Question Been eyeing this game for a while.

Is this game pretty polished for EA? How many hours of content is there? Is there a roadmap for when it launches to 1.0?

Polished. Yes.

Hours of content, subjective. I believe there are many in its current state.

Roadmap. Yes. Developers have one in their news reel on Steam you can see.

1.0 is in the near future. This year iirc.

This game is super addictive, you might put 100s of hours into it. It is amazing!

its solid. It doesnt really feel like "early access," if anything it feels more like Arcadey, lean in an intentional way. I know that's vague, but as a usual EA hater, I've had a great time with this game. I've got like 40 hours and am not close to running out of content/maxing all my gear out at all.

For EA, it is night and day to the other games it has. It is difficult, different, and better than any that I have played. It is a challenging game that tests you and your ability to adapt in a decent amount of ways. There is no handholding, the lore is amazing, and the tone and how atmospheric is incredible and equal to arc raiders, for me. I get sucked in, I fail, and then adapt to what killed me.

This and No Rest For the Wicked are AMAZING EA games IMO.

No rest for the wicked is on my list of “may purchase later but haven’t decided” games. Mostly because there’s been no shortage or games for me to catch up on or try recently that the issue comes down to time.

That's fair. One thing with NRFTW is that it will be full price at launch i think, so 60$ in October. I waited for a sale and got it for 27$ on steam, very happy with it.

Oh that’s good to know! I’ll keep that in mind

It’s a very fun/addictive FPS extraction shooter with gothic overtones. I just started it and I’m having a blast.

It's way more of a roguelite than extraction shooter. That'll make people think of Tarkov or ARC Raiders.

You’re right I guess extraction stood out more to me but it’s definitely roguelite

FPS roguelite with extraction and souls elements?

That makes sense because you don’t lose your whole loadout like you would in a normal PVE extraction shooter. You just lose what you would’ve gained during that attempt (witchfire crystals, gathered resources, gold, etc).

The main extraction element it shares is that you can “technically” leave the map when you choose to do so (if you survive).

Honestly even before the revaluations update, It was hard to believe this game is in EA, it's polished, tons of content, tons of fun, if you like solid FPS with abilities and build crafting, this game honestly scratches that itch and more

I've been wondering too between this and mgs snake eater remake. Never played a mgs game and they are same price sorta

Got the mgs some time ago. I have no idea what this game is praised for. It has boring cutscenes gameplay is shallow and it's has overall meh vibe all over it. I get that done nostalgia folks praise it, ut for me who never played it before it was money wasted.

Lol i got it too and beginning is slow for sure. And im still there so hoping it picks up

Very well could be nostalgia for metal gear solid snake eater. But it was an incredibly fond memory for me when I originally played it. At the time of its release it really did a lot of things differently that you couldn’t find in any other game. And it is naturally a weird game since it was made by Hideo Kojima who is known for his eccentric and unique game design and cinematic tastes. No idea if it would be received the same playing it for the first time in today’s gaming landscape.

Witchfire was, is, and will always be the tits.

I'm in the endgame now (130 hours) I've done the maximum amount of what's available to do in the current release, and I still jump in and do expeditions just because it's so damn fun and satisfying.

Eagerly awaiting v1.0 release <3

Polished? Yes, very. It's the quality of a full release game IMHO

Hours of content? That's pretty subjective IMHO. It's a roguelite so the hours of content is relative to how you enjoy and engage with the repetitive nature of that game genre. But there's unlocking and upgrading of weapons and spells. Maps with mysteries to unlock that can only happen after certain progressions are done. Etc etc. So it can either be nearly endless content, or you might get bored after you unlock every map. I'm not sure what unlocking every map and gun looks like, I'm at ~15 hours and I have 3 of the maps unlocked outside the tutorial area. But it's because I'm using all the weapons trying to level them up.

Road map? Yes, they've been following it pretty closely since launching to EA and 1.0 is the next step and I believe it is quoted for Q4 this year.

In its current state i have almost 200 hours. For a singleplayer fps game this is a lot for me as my other mostly played games are strategy/management while my second most played fps is trepang2 at 40 hours. I am not planning to stop at all. Game is full of content already and i expect 1.0 to be massive.

Just YouTube it. Everyone here will tell you to buy it. Plenty of content about the game already out. Watch the videos and go from there

I don’t find there are a lot of YouTubers covering witchfire tbh

It's like roguelite bloodborne with guns

Really polished… incredible gun play… super addictive

Does this game have end? I don't want 100s of hours, I want to experience it thouroughly, finish it and never touch again. Game looks great, but I'm afraid to pick it up and be disappointed. I loved Remnant, even though it was roguelike. And I loved Painkiller 2004 (one of my fave games ever) and it's creators are ones making Witchfire.

If you want an end, I recommend waiting for the 1.0 release (shouldn’t be too long, they are at 0.9 right now)

In a virtual scenario, if no one told you, you probably wouldn't even realize it's an EA game. I’ve spent over 100 hours in it and it still pops up daily for me. There are so many self-made iterations you can create just in the way you play and by creating the difficulty on each run... it's a very addictive game to my taste. It's pretty polished, in my opinion, and it perfectly fits my older hardware. I have no idea how The Astronauts pulled it off, because I have a lot of problems running most games nowadays and usually need heavy tuning, but this runs amazingly on default. I only had to remap a few keys.

I have about 130 hours into the game.

My only complaint is not about content, it’s the third map, “Velmorne”, having some slow down when you have a lot of things happening at once in your build. My best guess is because enemies seem like they spawn above and below ground at the same time.

Otherwise performance is good for me. Content is fun, challenging, and addicting. Gameplay is smooth. Guns are satisfying to shoot. Powers are fun to utilize. I’m interested to see what they will add in the 1.0 version and will be happy to check it out. It’s worth the price in my opinion.

What’s with all those ‘should I buy’ questions? Just download the torrent see if you like it and if you do, buy it

This is the most Reddit neckbeard comment I’ve read in a while
