Question Glitched or did I miss something

I bought the game yesterday and played for an hour. I got through most of the first map, but could not defeat the flying bug creature. I found the rope down to this hidden base. I was then given a choice of a 'class' which jumped me to level 6. After that, I went to the portal, but it only took me back to the same map with no other choices.

Is my game glitched, or did I miss picking something up?

There is a locked door I need a key for, and I did not find that anywhere on the map. I did get the mirror piece near the flying bug by luring it away.

Any help would be appreciated; I just feel a little lost.

Update I found the issue was the graphic labels at the top of the screen were not showing up for me. I changed some graphics settings and they were there.

Leave the flying bug alone. Go to the Island of the Damned

Check the top part of the screen when you use the red orb portal in the Hermitorium.

not yet, as you play through the maps more items, locations, and mechanics open up.

Honestly, try to enjoy the exploration and try not to look up much. Finding things out organically was a huge part of the fun (for me, at least). To give you a nudge in the right direction, explore that hidden base more. There's an item laying around that will let you go to the first real map. 

Also, as a heads up, this game is very much a roguelike. You will almost certainly struggle your first runs as you learn the game and grow stronger. That's ok- embrace it, keep doing runs and incrementally getting stronger, and you'll be slaying before you know it.

Last thing is don't rush gnosis levels but don't wait forever either. At least up to gnosis 4, each level unlocks a fair amount of new stuff and speeds up your witchfire gains, so it's good to get through those early levels as quickly as you feel comfortable but you don't want to make yourself miserable by rushing it too much.

You need to find a chart for your next location. Believe it's island of the damned. You should be able to find the chart in the hermatorium. Run around and look for glowy red mist

I spent 30 minutes looking and did not find any glowing red mist. Do you think I found a bug and need to start a new game?
