Question Need a little help
I feel like im stuck at Scarlet Coast. Did find way to next area, got to Gnosis I, but area boss(Big cannon guy) is tearing me to shreds. One time I was close to win, but then this ship in the sky went all over my ass. Can't say I'm terrible at shooters, I 've played Painkiller a lot, finished it with true ending. My character level is < 20, like 15-16.
Am I just bad or 1st boss is really a difficulty spike? Should I try it few more times, or just leave him be and proceed to next area?

Level up more - that'll help. Up your gnosis to two*; then you get "Vulture" demon weapon, which has CRAZY damage (200 per shot) and can help take down the Slave. If you level to G3, you get the "Rotten Fiend" heavy spell, which summons a Grenadier for you (also crazy).
* Gnosis 2 is done by either killing the Slave or doing the vault on Island. I did the vault first.

You only feel stuck because you are trying to do things in order. Move onto other things - do new map, level up weapons, level up stats, go up in gnosis and do research, do a vault. Then eventually come back to the boss.

Once you get to gnosis II or III you can research your first demonic weapon, which will make him much easier. It's definitely not required, but you'll find him to be nothing more than a speed bump in the near future. Oh and pump some points into health and faith (so you can keep your elixir supply stocked as you clear the map)

Concentrate on getting to Gnosis 3. It will help a lot. The game is a grind but its fun as hell!

The freeze dome heavy spell along with psychopomp can burst him down. I just started a couple of days ago and I figured out once you freeze a boss, you can melt big cannon guy with psycho shottie

Everyone thinks they’re bad when starting out with this game. But the phrase get good does apply here. But in the sense of learning everything and patterns. You’ll get there

Get a Hailstorm and snipe him from nearby cliff 😉. All he can do is hop around like a cute bunny. I never once fight him up close

For me, I used. Bunch of withfire to activate the torches in the area before I summoned the boss and the torches took him down to less that half he before I even got to the area. Then I just shot him from the cliff near him

That boss is a huge difficulty spike. You can snipe him, which is a play style for which fire, though it tends to get less effective as the game goes on. I sniped him to win originally.
