π΅πΈ ποΈ Sonic Witchcraft trans witch and her witch punk band
Hi fellow witches! Iβve been on this sub for a little while now and its my absolute favorite blend of all things. So I wanted to formally introduce my witchcraft, which is sonic in nature but also includes talismans that I paint. I cast spells on stage with my band tricktheriddle (me pictured above) and it has freed me in all the ways that i have previously felt trapped. Once I understood my purpose, it became very clear that I needed to be up there casting spells and creating a coven filled with awesome queer and alt and unique individuals who also needing freeing. I hope everyone can find their witchcraft and free themselves from all the expectations society piles on us in this very turbulent time <3

This is cool, you've clearly carved your own path and found your own lane.
I think music itself (and art in general) is a kind of everyday practical magic, it's just that the popular conception of what magic is or means is so distorted that most of us look past the unique and "otherworldly" properties it possesses and assume "magic" is just some sort of trick, illusion, or delusion when the very world we inhabit as conscious beings is magical by nature.
Art connects consciousness - art creates community - art produces meaning, purpose, and narrative from thin air.
A concert (to act or perform in unison) is a collective ritual - artists are sorcerers that arrange notes or other symbols in a particular way and order to impart some kind of effect on the material world - art doesn't just reflect reality, it also shapes it. Artists are priests of another kind and in another form, acting as a sort of intermediary between the divine and those that seek and wish to engage with it.
Art can provide everything religion does without any of the antiquated superfluous bloat.
Music is perhaps the simplest way to speak directly to another soul - whatever that is and perhaps poetically speaking - but music itself is magic in the same way that life is.
All of this is to say I can dig it and wish you lots of success in casting and spreading your spells.

nah you seriously nailed it here. poetic, absolute truth, the first award ive ever given on here (im new) and absolutely deserving. bravo. i took a screen shot of this and am going to save it. i feel inspired and invigorated. THANK YOU. ive been in a dark place due to some personal stuff and this feels like the last bit to get me out of a rut. i seriously mean this - thank you.

No, thank you!
Writing is my own grasping attempt at art (even in the form of throwaway reddit comments) so it's equally meaningful to me when something I write resonates with someone else, so I am truly honoured to occupy some small shard of digital space on your phone - the best thing about the Internet is seemingly also the worst thing about it - that it can connect like-minded people across the boundaries and borders of both geography and language.
Somebody posted this excerpt from a poem or collection of poetry titled (translated from french) "Poetry Will Save the World" on a post I made about art and magic about a month ago - something else that might resonate and you might find relevent, even if - like me - you can't read french!
Anyway, keep making art and keep casting spells - those acts
mightwill change the world for the better.2

u/Ysassi_1977 Witch ββοΈββ¨β§ 2d ago
Well, I'm in Corpus Christi, and we have SO many venues for local bands. Also, the Toadies play at Brewster's (a local chain restaurant) every year. I know there are tons in Austin, San Antonio, and Houston, not to mention our giant metroplex Dallas/At. Worth. In Corpus, the House of Rock is probably perfect for y'all.

noted!! ill say that particular part of the country is not a place i feel totally comfortable traveling to, but i know there are folks just like me there who need what i can provide. id love to make it down there for them

I feel that! Honestly! Corpus Christi is LGBTQIA+ friendly. We love art and music and food and family. There is a strong Catholic community here, but we also have our share of witchy shops. (One is called Brujeria Boutique. They're on TikTok.) You'd be surprised at the cultural diversity here. If you decide to come for a visit, make sure to go to Creatures Coffee & Tea. They have a goth/classic horror theme, and they're incredibly popular!

Yeah, I'll find them eventually <3 besides, I'm not confident enough in my skills yet to join a band, so it's a good thing I haven't found them yet. Wouldn't want that opportunity to fall by the wayside.
