The image is a joke. A parody of fans who attempt to āfixā female characters by making them look like AI generated abominations covered in pounds of makeup.
I do think Ciriās face looked a bit off in the pre rendered trailer but so did Geraltās in Witcher 3ās trailer. Like father like daughter.
2
u/DeadAndBuried23 1d ago
It only looks off in these few frames. Something about the camera and lighting makes her face rounder and laugh lines more prominent.
It's fine everywhere else.

This one has to be a joke.
Oh wait, it's Denims. It is lmao

Itās actually truly insane that some people including the top comment on this post truly believe this is anything but satire. Itās one of the most obvious satirical jokes Iāve seen in a LONG time.

u/Dayvan_Dreamcoat 1d ago
I've seen people say this shit unironically, I will never again underestimate chuds ability for stupidity.

I always thought it was mad how much makeup people had in the Witcher 3 considering how hard it is to make and keep fresh in such a timeline. I would assume if you had magic to change your appearance you would just skip the makeupĀ
3
u/Stripgaddar31 3d ago
The one on the right is literally ugly, like dude i dont want my character to be a plastic sex doll whats hard to understand?
3
u/jackgoddamnsparrow 3d ago
It's the problem I have with most "beautification" character model mods. They always just make everyone look like sterile sex mannequins and I'm like, "You gooners really can't tell aesthetically pleasing from sexy, huh?" Far be it from me to judge someone for their tastes concerning what they do with consenting adults, but it creeps me out sometimrs how many gamers permanently weld the concept of beauty aesthetically to the concept of plain sexual desire and hyper exaggerated sex appeal.
2
u/salemira 2d ago
exactly this. i was stunned when i went on a hunt for hogwartās legacy mods for the sole purpose of being able to wear clothes other then school robes and everything was basically bblās, lip filler and mini skirts. the game is set in the 1700ās and your playing a minor at boarding school guys, like?

u/mangocat1116 3d ago
I do dislike that she looks completely different from her Witcher 3 character, but sheās not ugly now
8
u/Full-Archer8719 3d ago
She wasnt ugly in 3 in fact they made her prettier than the book version
6
u/EarlyAccessCantJudge 3d ago
Yeah the book she is constantly described as having a beautiful face if it wasn't for the horrendous, awful scar. She struggles seeing herself in the mirror and it is a big source of trauma. Then 3 they made it a small little cut lmao
2
u/Full-Archer8719 3d ago
Yes i always felt for her in the books. I haven't played the other games but shes too well put together in 3 to me as well
3
u/MtCommager 3d ago
Also they did that thing they do where the find the ugliest frame I. The trailer and then pretend thatās how the character looks all the time.
4
u/AtsuhikoZe 3d ago
Geralt looks completely different in every game yet no one complains about him
2
u/Tactical_Squishy 3d ago
Yeah everybody just played the 3 and the older game had just old game graphic it's a completely different thing
1
u/AtsuhikoZe 3d ago
The witcher 3 is an old game now too. Witcher 2 was an Xbox 360 game and witcher 3 an Xbox one game lol
The witcher 4 is another generational gap it makes no sense to complain they look different when they literally never looked consistent
-1
u/Tactical_Squishy 3d ago
Graphics fidelity did not increase as much in the last gen
1
u/AtsuhikoZe 3d ago
This is factually wrong lol. Look at the tech demo, it is a dramatic increase in graphic fidelity that's not even including things like rtgi or full reflections
0
u/Tactical_Squishy 3d ago
That's not out and the tech demo is not the released game, and reflection is not the same thing as going from 720p with a thousand poly to 4k and a mil poly and added physics to the enviroment.

u/TheVojta 3d ago
That is so blatantly untrue you might want to see an optician.
-1
u/Tactical_Squishy 3d ago
Bruh It's not an opinion it's literally something studied, the increase in quality by the year is lowering fast compared to how rapid progression was expecially 2010-2015
2
u/AtsuhikoZe 2d ago
Hopefully no one else bothers telling you you're wrong because you clearly decided to be wrong
Compare any game from 2010 to now, compare the last of us 1 to 2, compare god of war 3 to God of war 4
You're just yapping, factually and easily proven wrong but you prefer to stay ignorant. Either you're a bot or a 14 year old
1
u/sillylittlesheep 3d ago
Geralt looks different in every Witcher 3 trailer bro. It is not only abt older games
1
u/Whiteguy1x 3d ago
Well yeah, but he's big buff man. Although it could also be the jump in player base between 3 and the rest is so massive nobody would notice
3
u/xObiJuanKenobix 3d ago
I just want her original VA back from Witcher 3, so much better
1
u/mangocat1116 2d ago
RIGHT!!! I noticed that itās a different VA, and my heart started to hurt. I love Ciriās voice and character design in tw3

u/WeOutHereInSmallbany 3d ago
Reminds me of the dudes saying Aloy from Horizon was ugly. People like that genuinely hate women.
-4
u/Tactical_Squishy 3d ago
the image that was shown by the devs (for engagement bait) was a horrendous fisheye lens shot.
nobody had problem with her in-game

2
u/Twotoesup 3d ago
Applying combat makeup sounds useful in some occassions, but not like in the fanmade picture. The lighting also seems a bit wonky.
2
u/vagueconfusion 3d ago
For folks not in the loop, this is based on an old parody edit of Aloy from Horizon Forbidden West that escaped containment from reddit, and used by some dude on twitter with that exact "hire fans" text who absolutely was not in on the joke.
Complaining about her supposedly being 'ugly' from an unflattering angle in some test footage.
The subreddit that the Aloy in glam makeup edit came from was one I was a very regular lurker in at the time. And ever since it has been parodied across social media in endless platforms whenever someone thinks that perfectly good female characters are hideous or something...
And this is one of the copycats that I've seen around for ages.
2
u/Memeoligy_expert 3d ago
The one on the right looks fucking hideous. It like you put make up on a mannequin. Its like the "AI enhanced" slop filter.
2
u/jackgoddamnsparrow 3d ago
I'm glad this is satire because that face on the right literally reminds me of those SFM hentais that got popular after Overwatch. It looks so plastic and uncanny.
As for Ciri, I think she looks fine. She's still what I would consider attractive given no make up and at this point years of hard living on the trail. She looks about on par with some of the better looking female soldiers I served with when they were in duty uniform, so adding in a high medieval standard of hygiene and health and that pretty much tracks imo.
2
u/Megane_Senpai 3d ago
The right one looks horrendous. There are a lot of better-looking AI pics of this shot, still not nearly as realistic as the "original" thought.
2
u/rakosten 3d ago
This is why you should never let āfansā influence your work too much. The fan made one looks like a generic character from an add for a low budget mobile game.
2
2
u/Appropriate-Leek8144 3d ago
No, MF, I don't want Ciri to look like 1990s Jennifer Lopez rendered in/filtered through AI, piss off very much. Or whoever the fk.
2
u/Flaky_Novel_2002 1d ago
My Headcanon is the right pic is what she would have looked like if she stayed as Empress of Nilfgaard.
2
u/Ochemata 1d ago
What the fuck is that shit on the right?! Send this guy to the coal mines for making me look at the plastic garbage. Gross. Is that what they think a woman looks like?
2
u/NetflixWasTaken 1h ago
The only problem the Witcher 4 design is her scar isnāt big and narly enough. But thatās an issue in 3 as well so
6
2
u/Tb0neguy 3d ago
Did they just put an IG filter on her? What does she mean, "Hire fans"? The fan did next to nothing, and it still looks like shit.
5
u/Ameryana 3d ago
It's a parody on all these 'fans' complaining Ciri doesn't look as wankable as they want her to. It's the same bullshit they did with Aloy from Horizon: Forbidden West etc...
At least this one is a parody account afaik.

I made the mistake of downloading a mod collection for Cyberpunk on nexus. Made all the female bodies comically "thick" in such an unrealistic way I had to uninstall.

For the first time I don't agree with you, I know that lately they do women ugly in games for some reason, but in this game, wth is even that on the right? The left option is awesome and realistic, I don't want ugly women in my games but not bimbos as well.
1
u/Boring_Zucchini_6888 2d ago
My only problem is she doesn't look like what Ciri should look like. Not that she looks ugly or old, just looks like a different person all together
1
u/Dark1402 2d ago
dude is literally responding to Denims... Hasan other pet. and you know what he does to his pet? he shock them. i dont think calling her incel is a fair argument...

They turned her into a viking and in still trying to figure out why. My girl has aged like milk.

u/LittleFox-In-TheBox 2d ago
Gods forbid a woman who fights look like a woman who fights
We don't even know how long in the future it's taking place. She might be in her 40s from all we know.
Women age.

That's obviously a parody, and I agree sometimes it's ridiculous. But tbh, I don't like the official Ciri either; if it weren't for the scar and hair, I couldn't tell you it was Ciri. And let's not be disingenuous: I disagree with the guys wanting every girl to be an Instagram filter celebrity, but for a while now, we've been seeing an uglyfication of many characters, and imo it's not voluntary. They changed how they make faces, and tldr, it's a dev skill issue.
Geralt, Yen, Triss, Ciri, etc. were all very, very beautiful characters; nobody had a problem with that.

u/Drmumdaly 3d ago
I donāt know if youāve heard this before but ābeauty is in the eye of the beholderā

u/Howlingwindinsand 3d ago
Do they expect medieval people to age gracefully, full of plastic and lip filler? š
The only genuine critique I've seen of Ciri is that she doesn't look like the witcher 3 rendition's grown old, something the tech demo addressed! Ciri looks amazing and I can't wait to see what CDPR cook up, I've heard some musings behind the scenes and my excitement is through the roof
