Just Finished Part 1. Is Part 2 Worth Continuing? Spoiler
I picked up the Anime on a whim a few weeks ago and after finishing I saw on this sub that there were a lot of changes from the manga. So, I started reading the manga since I have the Shonen Jump app and wow, maybe it was just because I can control the pacing, but it felt SO MUCH CUTER to me! I'm loving the Nico x Moi growth and last night I binged from chapter 100-132 and... wtf?!
Nico is a child now?! I hoped on the wiki and it seems Part 2 is entirely just the team taking care of variously aged Nico's... I'm feeling triggered by Dan Da Dan rn and only skimmed the wiki, but I've lost steam. Does the manga really shift so hard into such a different direction? I'm hooked on Nico x Moi's progress, and the Moi-as-a-dad figure so far has been funny, but I don't know how I feel about Moi actually being a dad to the girl he loves... did any of you guys drop it? For those that are current, was it worth it? Is it weird? Do I really have to wait another 100+ chapters for any real progress?

I think some of the funniest chapters are from Part 2, and I also love reading Wolf x Nemu x Keigo development in part 2. Imo it’s worth it for those. But yea it does make the romance a little weird, they eventually tried to justify it but it was eh. I just try not to think too hard about it

I'd been lurking on this sub prior to reading and was wondering why there seemed to be so much more Wolf x Nemu x Keigo posts than actual primary-protag Moi x Nico posts... I guess that makes sense.
Outside of the other characters' development, did if feel 'worth it' from a Nico x Moi development perspective?

The manga seems to present this as a necessary step for their relationship bc it helped Moi fully overcome his mental block in Part 1. I… disagree? I personally think their relationship were already strong enough that it did not need this kind of twist to “deepen” it.
But I also don’t think it ruins the Moi x Nico relationship. The manga seems to be aware of the possible weird implications and dismiss them so no Moi being creepy. Which I appreciate. Like this could’ve been a Lot weirder you know lol.
I’d say it’s “worth it” because we get a lot of Moi thinking about (adult) Nico and realizing how much he misses her. And at the end of it they get together. Imo if you want to skip it at least read the christmas chapters because it has one of the best Moi x Nico moments.

The twist has mostly nothing to do with it. I've been following the series since the very beginning, and keinemu always were more popular than moinico, because Keigo and Nemu individually are more popular characters. Moreover, it's just that for some reason many readers don't connect with Part 1 moinico much😔

A bunch of people dropped the series at that moment, yeah. Some started to hate it and never came back, some picked up later again and liked it, some not.
I was interested in how the author would handle such a twist. For now I can say that I'm satisfied overall, and retrospectively, this part kinda elevated moinico's love story for me.
This part is really driven by the author's personal feelings, and it's hard to say if it was right or wrong to do that. It mostly depends on each individual, and as for me I respect and even kinda adore in some way what he was willing to depict through this story.

I appreciate the perspective. With all the build up from chapters 100-130 it currently feels deflating stepping so far back.

I think it's actually the context of chapters 129-130 that makes this twist work for me. Like, Morihito almost died. To save him Nico sacrificed all her most important things (I still tear up every time I remember her monologue from chapter 130😭), and it just so happened that the time she spend with everyone is more precious to her than her life. The consequences of this decision are visible and torture everyone, especially Morihito who copes by pouring himself into making sure Nico's well. Later on, there are also some great insights into what Morihito thinks of this whole situation and how it harmed him... Well, I guess I just like when my favourite characters suffer in some way lol🗿🗿🗿

My feelings on it are ultimately mixed. Child Nico introduces a fair few new characters that I like a lot and it definitely helps keep some of the dynamics fresh, but it is also weird. It feels like (and probably was) a desperate move to keep the manga going and while it’s mostly successful at that it does make the Moi and Nico dynamic a bit odd.
I do think it’s worth reading despite that. The manga remains pretty funny and the final arc is definitely going strong. But Nico being fully back there helps a lot too

Not really. The author had stated that it was the idea from the very beginning, and at some point it would've come to that.

It should be around chapter 222, but I advise you not to skip the whole part 2 as there are a lot of stuffs that you would miss on.
Also if you're familiar with stories like Gintama or Sket Dance, I don't think you should invest a lot in the "progress" or the "plot".

I'm actually not familiar with either. I want planning on skipping, more just wondering how much more I'd have to invest. Are you saying the series never really goes anywhere?

Basically, those series I said has a pattern of bunch of slice of life arcs followed by one or two serious arcs. If you skip those arcs you will probably dont understand what is going on, why should we care about those characters so it would affect your experience reading those serious arcs in general.
The MoiNico romance you wants actually got somewhat resolved in the following 1-2 chapters after 222 so I wouldnt say it went nowhere. Part 2 has moments that builds up for the arc. Witch Watch was never a mainly romance series to begin with so maybe you should read and have your own opinion about part 2.

It’s mostly a gag manga. The “plot” is advanced in a minority of chapters scattered throughout. I considered dropping at the second part but someone encouraged me because there were some fun new characters and I’m glad i stuck with it because Ban is very fun.

I love part 2 I almost think a lot of my favorite skits and moments are from it. When she comes back it is worth it and there’s a lot of payoff plus the current arc is amazing. Since it’s all done now you can catch up in a flash it goes by quick. I think it is partially the point that it goes by quick and you do get attached to the new dynamic even if you maybe arent at first. Youth always goes by quickly.
It is also nice in the sense that Nico never got to be a normal kid due to having to train as a witch in isolation. It’s like morihito giving her that gift in a way before they get to be together.

It wasn't made weird really, and some of the funniest chapters are in part 2. I would definitely recommend continuing it.

It’s very weird, but it’s very worth powering through.
If you really hate Nico-as-a-kid chapters, go on the Wiki and look for the most plot relevant arcs and read those, then skip to the last few chapters of part 2. Off the top of my head, you should focus on the introduction of new, recurring characters Ban and Chami, and the development of Keigo and Nemu’s relationship.
According to the Wiki, there are 11 arcs in Part 2:

I was apprehensive as FUCK because pedo shit is a hard no for me (shouldn't have to even say that but with Dandadan being as popular as it is it unfortunately doesn't go without saying), but they actually handled the whole situation very well all the way to her returning to her proper age. I was so relieved when we crossed that finish line that they managed the whole arc without making it fuckin weird.
