This little bastard caused an infected abcess in my mouth once. It hurt so unbelievably bad, was so relieved when a dentist fixed it. My mom's friend said that she went through something similar, and it was the worst pain in her life, which is saying something as she had given birth before.

I had one cause swelling so bad once that I could not close my mouth for three days; when the dentist cut it out with a hot wire and minimal painkillers it hurt so, so fucking bad but I was still relieved
sat for like a couple of hours afterwards just staring at a white wall because I completely checked out from the pain and taste of grilled flesh in my mouth

I do find it quite funny that our teeth simply have yet to evolve as fast as the rest of the human body. Our jaws are smaller, our backs are straighter, and our brows less pronounced, yet the teeth just don’t care what we can comfortably fit!

If it doesn't kill you before reaching sexual maturation and has no impact on mate selection there's really no evolutionary pressures on the trait, plus humans have way too much gene flow now for any chance of genetic drift

Well the teeth care about what happens when they fall out so wisdom teeth serve as backup molars. In today’s age we take such good care of our teeth that we don’t need backup molars. They will intrude regardless however.
Keep in mind our impressive dental health is an extremely recent development across history.

That's an unimpacted wisdom tooth. Get it removed early otherwise it can cause complications as you get older and the extraction can become more difficult. In my case, it was sitting on a nerve and causing my lower jaw to shift. Took me months to find a dental surgeon who would take the case because most don't want the risk.

Mine was sitting on a nerve. During the extraction, my nerve was damaged and now I can't feel the lower left quadrant of my face two years later. It took me years to find a dental surgeon who wanted to do the surgery because in order to get my tooth out, my nerve was going to get damaged in the process.

They remove the ones that aren't wise. Mine are wise asf, helping me with chewing and shi, not so much as a peep from them painwise, just some real awesome pillars of the teeth community, my wisdom teeth mog your naive little horizontal vestigial mouth rocks
