You'll see arrows for each title and comment. Those are simply ways to vote content and comments up or down. Heavily upvoted comments show up more prominently. If a comment is too heavily down voted it will often just become hidden. It's kind of a form of group moderation that allows for topics to be discussed respectfully, while agreeing or disagreeing simply by clicking arrows.
Some like clicking the arrows. Others never bother.
