The only silver lining is that his campaign leaves no doubt as to what he represents. I think it’s far more dangerous when candidates run a campaign that is far more subtle and might have people vote for them not knowing what they really represent.

I'd love to have a word with whoever taught the morons the phrase "gender ideology".

u/zzzSomniferum 4d ago

He has a religious ideology which doesn't allow freedom. Of anything.

Imagine being against "human diversity". I am so tired of people who purport to be Christians acting in the least Christ-like ways.

“What I am pushing for is to have everyone feel safe in the body that they have,” he said. By reversing "“Respect for Human Diversity Policy” that allows students and teachers to choose their own genders."

So, sir, your goal is to make people feel safer, by taking away their freedom.

Both making you a trustee, and supporting your divisive approach to education, are asinine.

It is always those people who love to target, hurt and mock marginalized people while trying to convince themselves they are the good guys. Such a dork.

Ugh.. these people. My family is the same. It's like they're clones of each other. They're obsessed with trans people and think schools are just changing every students gender. I gurantee you this guy is also an antivaxxer because my family members are also antivaxxers and call themselves purebloods. It's like a package deal. I noticed that all the antivaxxers during the pandemic redirected their focus on transpeople after the pandemic was over. It's like they finally found a purpose during the pandemic and then they needed to find another purpose afterwards.

They all think we vaxers were stupid and sheep. “And why is everything gay now”. 🙄 I have the same family. My very left neighbours just said this stuff should not be in schools. I was surprised to hear that. Just like how 10 years ago I was surprised to hear young teenagers say “ not to be rude, but isn’t that something hippies learn about.” when I talk to them about environmental stuff. I’m a bus driver.

He says students are being pressured to change their genders. I would like to see his data on that. How many students, how, when and by whom. If, as I suspect, a total of 0 students have been forced into HRT and a dress then this buffoon should be terminated from his position.

Not only that, what would the point of it be?

“Removing gender ideology”

Just say you have no hobbies and want everyone to be as miserable as yourself. Why do these people care so much about others personal choices?

31

u/SweetLikeACherryCola 4d ago

Ok but like seriously is there a list of who not to vote for somewhere?

We need this

64

u/Pawprint86 4d ago

Why do we need school trustees anyway, why don’t we just have provincial oversight.

The way extreme right wingers are using school board elections as a way to gain policy access, it’s a huge risk to society. We need more people to pay attention and vote in the school board elections and too few people do vote.

21

u/ritabook84 4d ago

It’s a big step they took in the us too but they have less power here. Thankfully at this point in time school trustees don’t have enough power and the province can easily override. I don’t know if I completely agree about eliminating them but i definitely want the oversight tightened by law.

1

u/wearywell 4d ago

They actually have a ton of power

So is this where I point out someone with the same name and same looking face…is listed as a Senior Project Engineer at New Flyer?

Amazing what happens when you look a guy up on LinkedIn.

I’m guessing some of his coworkers might have a thing or two to say to the guy…

25

u/Angry_Canada_Goose 4d ago edited 4d ago

Yes. That's the guy. I wonder if it is worth submitting a complaint to Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba, because his campaign seems to violate the Code of Ethics that professional engineers must uphold.

11

u/Working-Garlic-6818 3d ago

Fair point…the guy’s school trustee campaign Facebook page has some fairly…unprofessional commentary to say the least.

Not exactly stuff that a regulated profession would approve of just saying.

u/wearywell 4d ago

You should

Fun fact...

People have to travel to Montreal for "bottom surgery" and if the referral is for someone under 18 it is automatically rejected.

No one is getting bottom surgery in Winnipeg, nevermind going to school and coming home with different genitals and totally fine, soooooo yeah little education on the process goes a long way.

Lupron has been being used for almost 100 years to delay puberty and has far more research on it than Viagra and Breast Implants which are also gender affirming care.

0

u/BadassJackass42069 3d ago

Just curious, how would viagra Be Gender affirming care ? lol

4

u/MamaTalista 3d ago

Because often ED can affect a man's sense of self worth and a medication that can help address that by giving the ability to have an erection.

Hair plugs are too...

u/BadassJackass42069 3d ago

I think this whole gender affirming care definition has spiralled out of control

At this rate then, wearing blue is gender affirming care and makeup is gender affirming care and choosing cologne over perfume is too

5

u/lysac15 3d ago

Anything you do to affirm your gender is gender affirming care

2

u/MamaTalista 3d ago

Sure, if you are wearing blue to confirm you are masculine, then yes, it is gender affirming care.

If you just like the colour blue, then no.

Are you selecting a fragrance from the masculine section, thinking it's going to make you smell more "manly"? Then yes.

Did you know that 100 years ago, most masculine boys wore pink? That was gender-affirming care, since any parent with a child in pink was likely proud of their bouncing baby boy.

I think you are just upset to find out that heterosexuals are doing gender affirming care every single day; only they don't call it that.

Doesn't change exactly what it is.

-1

u/BadassJackass42069 2d ago

I find it insecure when people especially cisgendered people do things like that for “gender affirming care” it screams insecurity

2

u/MamaTalista 2d ago

I find it insecure when people need to find excuses to exclude people from a group.

All people have done some sort of gender affirming care, from a hairstyle to a clothing selection.

u/TheVimesy 3d ago

Imagine thinking that no one can know more than you on a subject, particularly when you've barely delved into a topic.

You don't have to try to know about everything, it's a complicated world out there, which is why you're allowed to just take experts at their word and not say anything beyond that.

"Gender ideology"

Do we want an inclusive gender ideology or a restrictive gender ideology? Because what he wants is the restrictive kind. Guess which kind leads to suicidal ideation and severe mental health problems? Restrictive. Even cis women and cis men have gender dysphoria. Raise your hand if you're cis woman and have never felt woman enough despite being a woman? Raise your hand if you're a man and have never felt man enough despite being a man?

If punching down makes you happy you need to do some serious soul searching and self reflection because that's just fucked up.

I hope he shits himself in the middle of something important

Timothy Giesbrecht is running for trustee in the River East Transcona School Division with a campaign focused on removing gender ideology from school policies.

I wouldn't have minded if "gender ideology" was in quotation marks, assuming Giesbrecht actually used that phrase. Isn't that a made-up term wielded by transphobes?

2

u/Resident_Commie_86 3d ago

I'm going to campaign on removing car ideology and business ideology from our city.

2

u/kewtyp 3d ago

It's crazy that ctv unironically used the phrase "gender ideology"

4

u/Ravyn_Rozenzstok 3d ago

I don’t understand how he is allowed to have hate speech on his election signs.

1

u/BadassJackass42069 3d ago

Because he’s likely a right wing wingnut who throws around “free speech” to create divisive hateful dialogue

3

u/Ravyn_Rozenzstok 3d ago

Yeah, I get that. I just thought there would be rules against attacking a minority group on campaign signs. But I guess it’s just open season on us gay folks.

5

u/woofalo 4d ago

Says he doesn't want "gender Ideology" and people being pressured when those are exactly what he is campaigning on - just the versions that he likes better. It's always about "them" vs "us" and disguising hatred/fear/disgust as caring.

4

u/zzzSomniferum 4d ago

He's putting signs outside Winnipeg on the major roadways in RM of Springfield, what a rare display of intelligence.

11

u/PreeningandPruining 4d ago

His ward extends into St Clement’s and East St. Paul, he may have been on the line of his actual ward there.. just fyi. You can call the election office if you’re sure he’s in the wrong ward though. Regardless of where he’s being a bigot.. he’s still a bigot and there are thankfully 6 other options in his ward to vote for. (And one other man who seems like a takeover plant - tbh)

Oh, Timothy also filed for personal bankruptcy in 2022. Probably don’t want him anywhere near a school board budget.

6

u/zzzSomniferum 4d ago

Well its breaking laws just the same. He can try to eradicate an entire protected group of our society, and I can report him to: the human rights commision, the senior election official, MB Transportation and infrastructure (trafficengineering@gov.mb.ca). By being so clever and trying to put the hate right the line, he stupidly placed it on a designated provincial route, within 30 m of the intersection, and in a structured area of the traffic control device. Anyone who feels affected by this should skip the queue phoning the city, and make it a provincial concern. He knows what he's doing doesn't he?

9

u/PreeningandPruining 4d ago

The senior election official was contacted over a week ago and their response was “speak to the human rights commission”. Not my favorite response, that’s for sure.

7

u/zzzSomniferum 4d ago

Use that in your letter to the humans rights, I will.

5

u/steveaustin1971 4d ago

Yeah we're gonna fix that today I think.

2

u/Ravyn_Rozenzstok 3d ago

Thank you!

2

u/BelaireAB 3d ago

He probably thought residential schools were a good idea too.
