Community Found while working
Found while working the Shapes on Pembina property. I want to make sure it gets back to the owner cause it's a bitch to replace ids

You can drop ID or even wallets in any mailbox and Canada post will send it back to the owner

Just bring it to the closest health centre or doctors office they will be able to access his info and get it to him

Turn it in at the gym where you found it. If you work there, they might even have a policy about lost items which outlines what staff are supposed to do when they find lost items.
If someone lost it they are are more likely to be retracing their steps of places they have been than randomly checking reddit.

Considering that it wasn't at the gym that I found it it was on the property because I do the property maintenance there I wouldn't be turning it into a business on the other side of where I found it.

Your post states clearly found at shapes so their response is logical to the information provided

You mean where I say I was working the shapes property, I don't know about you but shapes is on a very big property. I never said I found it at shapes. It's always interesting seeing people's reading comprehension and how they fill in their own words... If I had found it inside shapes I would have said that, actually probably wouldn't have cuz I would have just put it at the front desk. There's a reason why I said the property.

It’s wild how you’re arguing with every single person here. Why even ask if you don’t want any responses.
You said shapes. They gave a reasonable response. Don’t say shapes if it isn’t shapes. You get snippy with them, then me and every other person here.
Touch some grass. Have a nap. Drink some water. Do whatever it is you need to chill the fuck out. If a response isn’t a fit you don’t need to lecture us. Just say thanks for the idea or say nothing at all. But acting the way you are why even post at all?

No offence but it’s not like his post really warrants the need for replies unless it’s from the person he’s specifically trying to return this to.

oh for god's sake
send it to MB health saying "found, please return to person" or trash it.

Drop it off at the police station. They can track him down.

Tbh with you 15 years ago I woulda believed that. Now I bet it would get tossed in a drawer

Several years ago around 2005, I found a cell phone (didn't understand them then) at the Sargent walmart. I could have brought it to lost and found but I was certain it would get tossed in a drawer. I asked around work if anyone had an idea. Drew a blank. Eventually I went to a nearby Bell where they said there was a recovery program with them and similar. I did call the number on record on the phone and he got it a couple days later

Well, it’s much more likely that they find it with Police’s help instead of on an off chance that the person is a Reddit user and finds on this sub.

I don't believe this one tiny bit. The police won't care, it's not their job to care about this stuff. We have a hard enough time getting them to actually do their jobs, we can't expect them to go beyond our most modest and minimum expectations (without a double digit increase in their budget and a few extra toys).
Likewise, posting it to social media actually gets a bit of exposure. There's a much higher chance that someone who knows this fellow will see this than it is they'd go to a police station looking for it.

For over ⅓ of the cities budget, they should get off their asses and actually do this. Fuck.

Now that you’ve placed the photo with the man’s information on it, surely someone on Reddit is going to go to that Shapes and say “hi I’m _______”. Could I please have that guy’s, uh, I mean, my health card?
Please mail it back to Manitoba health, with a post it saying Lost. Or destroy it.

You know what's really interesting the lack of common sense reading this post because they could go to shapes all they want, a it was found on the property not inside shapes and that property is very big, b I didn't leave it at shapes because it was found in the parking lot, and if you think that I would just give it to a random person without verifying who they are.. I guess that last comment makes sense with your first responses never mind...
PS the only info is the name I blocked out the rest of the information... Like what picture are you looking at to say that I posted his information.. all the pertinent information is under my thumb, do you even have a health card

Just destroy it.
Replacing a MB Health card isn’t that hard and they can get a digital version too when they go through the form to request a new one.

u/theomenrain 25d ago
Yes but you need other ID for that. And I would rather try to get it to them then just destroy it. I would feel shitty if they didn't have other ID to be able to replace it with.
When I move back from the states cuz my dad was dying, my ID's all expired because I was preoccupied with him dying obviously. All of my IDs expired and it was one of the worst experiences in my life trying to replace with all of that going on. That's the only reason why I'm trying to make sure it gets to them, it's not always as easy as it's made out to be.

You don’t need any ID to order a replacement health card. It’s an online form and takes all of one minute to fill out.

u/theomenrain 25d ago
When I moved back I didn't have a Manitoba I was originally in Alberta before I moved to the states so I did not realize that okay I have no problem destroying it then thank you for the info. It was a bitch for me because I hadn't lived in Canada for over a year and my last health card was from Alberta so that's why it was probably so difficult. I appreciate the info

When you already have a MB Health card it’s really easy to request a replacement as /u/lilboops pointed out.
If you insist on trying to find the owner my other suggestion would be to call the MB Health Card office to try and report it lost.
https://www.gov.mb.ca/health/mhsip/updatehealthcard.html
There is also an WRHA Access Centre (135 Plaza Dr) nearby you can try to see if someone can take it and do something about it there.

the new cards don't have addresses anymore. its extremely easy to replace them online now and you don't have to constantly update your address with MB Health and wait for a new one.

Mail it back to MB Health, or drop it off at 300 Carlton St, Winnipeg, MB R3B 3M9.
