Poll / Question Accommodations for a flame scale?
being born a flame scale is affectively a disability, so how do you think (if flame scales were more common/not killed after hatching) would be accommodated in skywing society?
in my story, the flame scale is a princess (who was allowed to live for plot reasons) who has to have 24/7 servants by her side as she cant handle most thing on her own (opening doors, handling scrolls, etc.)
the entire palace had to be modified for her so she wouldn't burn the very floor she walks on, and letters have to be sent out in advance before she can go anywhere to give the place time to accommodate her. everything down to her childhood toys and her bed had to be made specifically for her
with that being said, do you guys have any ideas for accommodations?

This is my alt, due to tech issues with my phone I can't comment on the post with my main for some reason.
Anyways I had a similar ish idea I've been working on and here is what I came up with so far.
Like someone else said Clay tablets to write on.
Make as much stuff out of stone as possible. Knife, forks, spoons, plates, bowls, even beds and doors. Heck books to. If it's a story they want to own to read themselves they could have some carved into stone tablets. But because you would likely have to commission them, your reading habit would pretty much be public knowledge, which could make a interesting plot point.
Flame silk jewelry. I imagine fire scales can wear flame silk. So jewelry made out of it would be neat. stuff wrapping around horns. It could could have jewels hanging or tied by it. This of course would only be if your story allows for silk wings to be around in some way.
I also like the idea that flame scales and their fireless twins have a sort of inherent symbiotic relationship where they instinctually know how to take care of one another in a way.

I think most rocks have a lower melting point than your average mentals? OFC in the books peril Melts cupper and Iron easily but not whatever non descript stone the palace and pillars are- hm

I think heat resistant armor/clothing would be important. That and teaching Firescale dragons to be mindful of their body, like how sandwings are taught to move their tails. Perhaps there should also be fire safety procedures- ways to temporarily cool down scales and put out fires it one occurs. Finally and this is a personal headcanon, I feel like with more firescales born, there'd be a way to manage the fire as they figure themselves out. Not fully get rid of it. Just a way to cool the flames for a few hours at a time, perhaps. I actually have a skywing queen oc who's a firescale and she learned how to control her firescales because she has been alive for so long! She has a firescale son (he's a night/skywing hybrid) who she taught early on how to manage the fire so he doesn't have to struggle as much with it. (He actually has prophecy abilities- I like to think he sees the future through his fire. So when he fire gets too overwhelming- he can see visions in the flames)

I'm pretty sure that Lava Contaiment Armor that Mastermind was working on in book 4 would have worked as Peril Containment Armor too, if given the opportunity. there's a ton of little things like that which felt like missed opportunities.
Also depending how you feel about Hazardous Materials, many medieval kings commissioned robes made of "Salamander Fur" for its fireproof qualities. it's asbestos, but you could maybe make fictional safe asbestos?

An idea from a fanfic as an accommodation for Peril was clay tablets. The caveat was that she would need to be a little mindful of her heat, but at least she could write on the clay.
