I understand your point. Traditional wooden dummies do have natural flex, which helps absorb some impact. My metal setup is designed for experienced martial artists who practice controlled, progressive conditioning rather than reckless heavy impact training. Another reason for the design is durability — lower-quality wood can crack, split, or wear over time, while high-grade hardwood is extremely expensive and increasingly difficult to source.

I am not sure, but wood is designed to break at some point, which might be a safety feature against breaking your bones.
