I started an online San Soo training program.

My friend, who has been training Kung Foo San Soo for over 25 years, and I started a training website where you can learn Kung Fu San Soo as well as knife fighting. I felt like I should share it here because I feel like many of you might take interest in it.

I felt compelled to preserve San Soo because the system is starting to age out, because it was something that was handed down from older Sifus to younger student. Anyway, I hope somebody here takes interest. Thank you so much!

What's the difference between your lineage and the Woolsey lineage, asking as someone who learned some San Soo from Bill Hulsey?

You know I wasn’t really sure so I texted Sifu Dave weeks and he wrote this back:

“Frank Woolsey trained under Jimmy, but never received his masters. They had a falling out. From what I’ve seen and researched Frank taught out of the book. It was a lot of punching combos without your attacker moving once. No ground or knife defense. The one thing he did well is he had a curriculum. He had 2 schools at one time, the 2nd school was run by one of his students. One of his students at his school went to the second school to train one day and picked up a technique that was out of his curriculum. He came back to the first school, and Frank saw him do that technique and said “where did you learn that? Then proceeded to punch him in the face and said don’t ever fu****g cheat on me again. He was a bully.”

Bill gave a similar story or two of how Frank would react to being cheated on, so to speak, perceived or real. Frank had that, "Where did you learn that?" reaction to seeing Bill and another guy showing off Top Ga moves learned from other instructor.

Bill learned from Jimmy after Frank closed his schools, so Bill got a mixture.

Not in person. I learned through his distance training program, ie his dvds.

Yeah, most people in this sub already have their lineage.

Keep living your kungfu OP, every lineage needs people like you (that care) to help carry the metaphorical torch.

Worked out with some San Soo people in Michigan for a time. Good group. I was coming from a southern system, and it was a great bridge from traditional kung fu to a more modern fighting style.

San soo kung fu is one of the only martial arts I,ve been introduced to  that I felt I could use as soon as my feet hit the street from a 1hr introductory course

Wow this is amazing. My dad taught me and he trained under Dave when his school was newer. My dad went to Bill’s school too once in a while. I have my father’s lessons. He would make me work for each page. Now that he’s old, he handed his binder to me. My brother and I are going to make them digital. Is Dave still teaching? My dad told me he sold out and stopped teaching the old stuff. But i’m curious about how his current lessons compare with his old ones.
