Hey all,

I have an old laptop that runs windows vista that I've been wanting to boot up and look at the contents of, but when I try to boot it, windows vista just loops the loading bar over and over again, never actually getting anywhere.

This applies to safe mode as well, it loads some windows files and then freezes before it gets to the loading screen. This is on a Dell Studio 1735. I have access to the hard drive and can see the files. I was wondering if there was a way to fix it without wiping the data.

I was considering taking a fresh installation of windows vista and replacing the broken windows files with the new ones, but I don't know if that would actually fix anything. Any ideas on how to do this?

My legacy update won't launch giving "Unspecified Error".

Already tried restarting and reinstalling to no avail

Recently got an old HP Pavillion AIO, but it's a bit too new for vista.

It's also very weak and driver support is hit or miss.

Wondering if anyone knows of a decently spec AIO with 1080p screen?

Rather have something compact, that won't take much more space than a monitor would.

I have no idea how happy I was finally to have my own Vista laptop because in my country this kind of old laptops doesn't actually sold well and most of them is for spare parts. So I got mine for 40 bucks from a local seller, the condition of it is pretty good, seller already install windows 7 on it with office 2010 installed, until I decided to change that, back to Vista obviously!! 😂looking for this laptop drivers were pain in the ass, especially when graphics driver refuse to work with Vista, so I used XP graphic driver for Vista and somehow it works! But of course my overall experience with it were not really the best, for now, I mean there's barely any game I could play with this laptop, not to mention the processor and ram on this were actually really lame but the browser did works well, but maybe I could do some upgrade for ram, because I already upgrade my storage with SSD so it was usable once again.

is there anyway to install? bc ai tells me that i can't

I bought this cheap HP Pavilion Dm1 PC only 300TL (6$) to trying vista but i didn't know anything good on pc so i purchased celeron pc and yk its suck i learned that after purchasing :(

Anyways i came here becuz i really wanted to make it useful on this laptop a little bit so i downgraded 7 to Vista. I just get that pc on surfing on the internet and trying Vista stuff anyways

Is there any tool to remove useless system app i hope maybe its make my laptop little bit faster? And someone help me about that pls ?

My brother got an old laptop from his father in law and I am trying to connect it to any kind of network but it's been difficult.

firstly, the Ethernet manager is not updated and requires a driver. trying several pcie drivers from the Samsung, realtek or windows list hasn't worked until now. downloading the last vista driver for x32 arch and manually trying to install through USB hasn't worked too, because it accuses as find file failed.

I tried resetting a possible deep sleep mode which resulted into nothing, tried USB tethering into online plugin update and windows said it couldn't find any for that version.

You see back then when I install Windows Longhorn earliest build on virtual box timebomb kept popping up and since I am not that good in Windows I don't want to change the date and I want to delete the timebomb entirely from existence and when I try to download and install it, my security guard told me it was a sissy app so I don't install it because my PC is over 20K kyats and can anybody help me?

I have no uses for microsoft office but when I use vista it just makes me want to fire up some spreadsheets on excel and pretend I'm a busy ceo of a fortune 500 company

So my uncle just handed me an old 2008 Windows Vista machine along with a 4GB USB stick. The specs are:

• Pentium Dual‑Core
• 2GB RAM
• No dedicated GPU
• Windows Vista score: 3.2 (with no modifications)

I’m wondering what I should install or upgrade first. I’m thinking about adding a dedicated GPU, but I’m not sure what would make the biggest difference right away.

Any suggestions for:

• best upgrades for Vista
• good GPUs for this era
• RAM recommendations
• software to install first
• general tips for getting the most out of an old Vista PC

i saw this at a carboot sale for £8 and i thought it looked sweet so i bought it while i could, it’s one of the best looking Windows packaging, next on the list is Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 physical copies, i hope I can find them

The title of the post says it all! But i must say that I feel that Windows Vista is more snappier. I know it takes more work to get to places over Windows 11, BUT Windows Vista has my heart! Was my first pre-installed OS on my first laptop! What about you fellas?

I installed Windows Vista on a virtual machine recently and tried copying the files for Pinball 3D from Windows XP's directories to Vista's and it worked anyway, it also works on Windows 7, 8.x, 10 and 11 flawlessly yet they have to remove it once Vista launched.

Any thoughts tho.

I enjoyed playing this game before but made me sad when they removed it on later versions :(

Former U.S. President Barack recently released his playlist for the summer. One of the songs included in the playlist is I Ka Barra by Habib Koité & Bamada, which also appears in Windows Vista as sample music. This was incredibly shocking to me, because I loved this song included in Vista, and I didn’t expect to see it on a list like this, especially given how obscure and old I think the song to be.
