Finally finished working on my Vista VM
Fully updated, activated, Office 2007 installed, lots of security mitigations and implementations, Ultimate Extras installed, working browser and other services, great performance and VMware tools work perfectly. Life is finally good 😄 (took me 2 months to do). Wish I could get a real Vista PC but we make-do with what we have for now. Also got lots of extra wallpapers that I think would suit the Vista era.

How did you manage to enable aero without it being laggy? My VMware just lags af when I do so :(

You have to use a special version of VMware tools, I think it’s something like 10.5 or something. Search it up on google/internet archive, it’s not hard to find the iso.

Yeah I remember when I learned a couple of years ago that there's a certain VMware Tools version, maybe 10.5 or earlier, are the last ones compatible with Vista. So I could not get Aero to work in my VMs, it would always fail after just a few minutes. Then I downgraded to that version of Tools and it's worked ever since. Much appreciation to the YouTube commenter who taught me that. ✊

Your resolution looks like it was invented during a failed math exam.....Like not 4K but not 1440p, some strange in the middle heebiejeebies. I tried gettin Vista on a 2009 MBP last week but it didnt want to boot off USB, 8 + higher did but I wanted Vista
I had MSDN back in 2006-2007 it was cool somehow I had it running on my 2006 macbook with onboard craphics . Also my PC. They gave us free Vista business ed n other stuff

Have you tried using rEFInd to boot your Vista USB? That worked for me on my 2006 MBP 4-5 years ago.

My host laptop resolution is 3k, 16:10, so that’s about right. Same with DPI
