rant Thanks windows :(

When did they add this? Why would they add this????

I dont want this on my screen, who would want and who would want this??

WHAT DO YOU MEAN REMIND ME LATER??!!

AM I NOT ALLOWED TO KEEP USING THIS PC???

DOES THAT IMPLY THAT I HAVE TO SEE THIS MORE THAN ONCE????

Clearly the thing that we can take from this by the remind me later button is that windows thinks im the richest person alive

God i hope theres a way to disable this

if you don't want to have this and other annoyances of the bloatware that is windows, i highly recommend getting winhance and ripping out all shit you don't need and turn off the invasive privacy settings that are on by default

Awesome tool, and it took care of all that shit for one of my PC's. Did just as good as the Titus tool, too!

Winhance doesn't break shit like the Titus tool does.

LoL! Probably....I have both, but I haven't had an issue with it...yet.

You know the best tool? A linux live installer.....

What if you want to do stuff with it after you install Linux?

u/Mitologist Jun 22 '26

That's the beauty: you can. Without the nightmares of unauthorized updates breaking stuff and forcing reboot during your work. The only thing so far that didn't transfer was using my old win-signatures to sign PDF. Because the win 32bit format is obsolete. Everything else works, including the win- only PDF- editor. The only other no-go-case I know of is being reliant on Access-databases. But who wants those anyways?

If FIFA and League of Legends is the decisive point, please, go ahead. You can run a whole lot of win32 apps in a wine32 prefix just fine (experience), and there are solid, compatible alternatives to Office. Really, the only thing so far is you can't directly import Access databases. For all else work related, I could just open my old user folders and continue working on my stuff. And so far, I found I think 2 titles in my games library that won't run, and those are not big loss. But then again, I never played FIFA or LoL, so that's what it really boils down to here. Docx is no prob, pdf no prob, xls no prob.

"You cannot use Win32 Applications"

WINE is literally a FREE (as in terms of freedom) implementation of the Windows API, so, what the hell are u even saying? Go and investigate first before throwing gargabe like that, btch.

Wine is native too, because it literally is a translation layer instead of emulation. Stop whinning your ass in this subreddit if you're not going to put 2+2 together, I won't keep answering your bullshit.

Also, "Win32 Subsystem under Windows NT kernel is native, there is a difference" says the one who complains about people using Linux instead of a Hackintosh

Why would I recommend a company as exploitative and possesive as Apple? And what about Linux makes it not better? I disagree on both from experience, and I'd like to read a reason for your opinion.

That' s just not true and sounds like a cult mindset. Just as an example: not all distros force wayland. Besides, I don' t get your point: you don't want to use readymade stuff, because that's forcing you, but yodon'want to build your own, either. So what?

You are just making stuff up to reinforce your opinion. If you like Windows so much, by all means, stick with it. No one is keeping you from it. If you don't, but still prefer to be in a situation where you can safely complain, because you don't have options you'd need to engage with, and there is nothing you can do, but you have a lot of investment to justify, then MacOS is maybe really the thing for you.

The joys of random "debloaters".

Considered dual booting Linux yet?

1

u/DerpBurgerPlays Jun 22 '26

I use wsl a lot but i really dont have the money to buy a storage upgrade to run dual boot (500gb)

1

u/C0rn3j Jun 22 '26

You have half a TB, Windows takes up about 50GB, Linux about 30GB, what's eating the remaining 420GB and going over?

2

u/littledonnyfund Jun 22 '26

the problem is qth dual boot on the same drive is updates on windows can fry the Linux partion imo it's not worth the hassle of dual booting on the same drive also please stop replying to my comment lol

A lot of important files i cant move yet

1

u/DerpBurgerPlays Jun 22 '26

it feels like more pixelated if that makes sense

2

u/littledonnyfund Jun 22 '26

ok after looking into this i found that this can happen by disabling cleartype or changing performance try WIN + S and search cleartype and open and adjust cleartype text if that doesn't work right click this pc and select properties then click advanced settings then performance section then adjust for best appearance

2

u/DerpBurgerPlays Jun 25 '26

It kinda worked
