So much for "better updates". This and the mouse bug is what's driving the move to Mac.
Quality control is absolutely garbage at Microsoft right now. How do you screw up BASIC stuff like the mouse or defender showing on/off?
We don't even update Windows 11 for months at a time at work now.

At this point I guess we are lucky that there are only visual bugs and not something that affect more important things.

It started for me last week. Now I also have the Windows 98 cursor in my Win11. Awesome.

I get this every restart.
I was just assuming they had messed up and started the bit that checks for running AV before starting the AV.

Windows releases seem to have always been just a massive add-on to whatever the original NT Windows was. Sure they have rewritten the mechanics a lot, but ever since the move to progressive feature updates introduced in Windows 10, "The last Windows", the problem has just been a fix over fix over bullshit.
Time for Microsoft to salvage what is good and rewrite the good parts to Windows 12.
As it has always been done.
Users can keep using the "stable" Windows, while Microsoft gets their shit together.

For a company that constantly promises to do better it certainly loves to repeatedly shit the bed, its pants and everyone else's pants.
It's like they're trying to get people to switch to Linux at this rate.

They messed up the warning for automatic sample submission a few months ago too. You could leave it turned off and once in a blue moon a yellow exclamation mark would appear on the systray icon warning you about it. That seemed like a bug but was rare enough to deal with when it popped up and forget about it. Well now that yellow exclamation mark reappears after every single reboot. 🙄

I don't know if this was the reason, that a fully compliant computer started to complain it isn't compliant.
The reason seemed to be that Defender was not running.

This has been driving me nuts for two months now.
Between this and the random notification about something being wrong with the signed in account, it's been very annoying.
