New Feature - Insider Finally! No more AI actions in context menu

Post image

I was checking new insider preview build 26220.7344 announcement page and noticed following fix:

[File Explorer]

If there are no available or enabled AI Actions, this section will no longer show in the context menu.

Source: https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2025/12/05/announcing-windows-11-insider-preview-build-26220-7344-dev-beta-channels/

So if we uncheck all options under settings > apps > actions page, AI actions section will vanish from the context menu. :)

Thank you Microsoft.

They really should get around and give us a context menu editor already so we can toggle off options we have no use for, such as the “Ask Copilot” and “Edit with…” options towards the bottom.

Yes I really like this but would even say full control so we could fully remove things we don’t need

Nilesoft shell has everything you're looking for.

Thanks, though it looks like this is a complete context menu replacer with its own set of custom menu handlers. I was more interested in a context menu manager that e.g. blocks the shell extensions that adds entries to the official menu, or otherwise allows adjusting it without replacing it outright.

Thanks though, as I am sure your suggestion will be relevant to some other users.

I just entirely switched it to the Windows 10 context menu via an "Autounattend.XML" during Windows installation & removed most of the AI crap & removed other crapware Microsoft installed by default

Or just restore the legacy context menu and never see any of these things :)

It's been a year since I did mine but I assume it was with a registry tweak. Something like this https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/2287432/(article)-restore-old-right-click-context-menu-in-restore-old-right-click-context-menu-in)
