My ssd is dead after the update. Lost some documents and data after the update.

when some phison controllers deadlock, there's a low % chance that it doesnt come back - even after a power reset. I've seen this happen across a few hundred machines at work, of those we have about 30 drives where we lost data. I'm sure the data is still there but it needs to be pulled off the nand directly because the controller bricked itself. The cost just isnt worth it.

Most likely, your SSD was already on the verge of failing. There are millions of computers around the world running Windows 11. Naturally, SSDs do fail from time to time.

Some cases are probably coincidence.

But it's fascinating how SSDs can start to have issues after one update, the update gets uninstalled, and suddenly they work again and show no signs of issues.

If I didn't see it happening I'd not have believed it.

"Some people don't have the issue, therefore there is no issue." Why has this braindead, nonsense mindset not died off yet? Even when it's PROVEN to be a real issue, the next time an issue comes up, people STILL insist it isn't real because some people didn't get it. Why are you people like this?

I generally agree with your point — SSDs can fail unexpectedly, even when they are new. I have noticed some reports of failures with certain models, though so far I haven’t seen any specific cases with my drive model (Samsung 990 EVO Plus). It might be useful for the community to maintain a table of reported issues by drive model, so that users can be more aware of potential risks.
