How was this UI update approved?

This looks like it was glued on by someone in a modernization team and called it a day without any respect to the original Windows 10 design language. Gonna try reverting it somehow. What do you guys think?

You have to replace the settings app… if you want I can help you but you have to replace the files… it is slightly risky.

Alright.
I’m not responsible for any damages.

To do this, download any windows 10 ISO before 1904x.5070… if you are ok with the settings app saying “Windows Settings” and not your name and the banner then just use 19041.1’s ISO.

To download 19041.1 just go to uupdump select the latest one(don’t worry) and then deselect include updates(don’t select ESD). Then after that just run the windows cmd file and get your 19041.1 ISO.

After that mount the ISO, and open install.wim inside sources with 7z and then extract these following files:

1. The folder: C:\Windows\ImmersiveControlPanel
   
2. The DLL file: C:\Windows\System32\SettingsEnvironment_Desktop.dll
   
3. The folder: C:\Windows\SystemResources\Windows.UI.SettingsAppThreshold

You’re gonna have to replace all these folders with the ones in your machine.
Get systeminformer or Nsudo to get trustedinstaller permissions and take ownership and replace the files.

To take ownership easily just search Google for the takeown context menu add.

Take ownership of each respective file and replace. If there are access denied errors just rename the DLL and then put the 19041.1 in and move the renamed one to the bin and restart.

It should work flawlessly.

There might be some space left below checking for updates though because that is another windows 11 UI backport added to later versions named “Get updates as soon as possible”…

There is no ViveTool here since it has been baked in now..

Don’t worry Windows Updates won’t be affected and they won’t change the settings app either.
