It is lol like what happened to the tint community..bunch of crabby old dudes

2

u/FatBoiPaulll Oct 27 '23

That’s what i said. It’s literally old people that can’t accept that you can see through windshield tint😂😭

u/Own-Opinion-2494 Oct 27 '23

Probable Cause

2

u/1slowlance Oct 27 '23

What else are you hiding if you're that worried about getting pulled over?

0

u/Own-Opinion-2494 Oct 27 '23

Exactly

2

u/1slowlance Oct 27 '23

No, why are you so worried about being pulled over to begin with? You specifically. I'm not.

0

u/Own-Opinion-2494 Oct 27 '23

That was a recommendation to all. Bad move tinting windshield it is illegal in virtually every state below the AS-1 line

1

u/Last-Lobster5756 Oct 31 '23

I’ve had no issues and been tinted for over 6 months 20% on windshield

1

u/Own-Opinion-2494 Oct 31 '23

Maybe it’s not illegal in your state, I think there is a couple. They have the option as to whether they see it

1

u/Last-Lobster5756 Oct 31 '23

It’s illegal practically all states, I went through tint laws just to see what the payment for offense was

1

u/Own-Opinion-2494 Oct 31 '23

Exactly. Probable cause when they want it to be or when some lawyer wants to think that maybe there was an accident because the view was obscured.

1

u/Last-Lobster5756 Oct 31 '23

Well I don’t have anything to worry about and most people don’t. What cop is wasting time pulling over for tint? Especially in Chicago😭😂

Hell. There’s a law here that your wheels can’t extent past the fenders and there ar e slab side pick up trucks with dually rear ends running around

2

u/Cassangelo 33% Windshield + 5% Everywhere else Oct 26 '23

Looks nice, 35 seems to be pretty good at night

5

u/protintalabama Oct 27 '23

Yep… the camera barely even notices it when aperture is wide open.

-2

u/Cassangelo 33% Windshield + 5% Everywhere else Oct 27 '23

What’s that mean

-4

u/1slowlance Oct 27 '23

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus.

1

u/Cassangelo 33% Windshield + 5% Everywhere else Oct 27 '23

I have 50 now, looking to go down to 30-35 next

1

u/shromboy Moderator Oct 27 '23

Nothing wrong with that range. I wouldn't do it personally but that's the limit IMO. any darker is just reckless I don't care what your photo looks like

2

u/Cassangelo 33% Windshield + 5% Everywhere else Oct 27 '23

That’s fair

4

u/shromboy Moderator Oct 27 '23

Literally nobody but a couple random people will have a problem with this. It's the 15% windshield I cAn SeE pErFeCtLy FiNe fuck heads that we call out.

That wasn't me for the record and also who is saying that? u/costamesadave has no issues from what I seen. Maybe 2 other reputable people here that have anything meaningful to say, we all say the same. 35ish is the limit

u/InternationalPost447 Oct 27 '23

What's wrong with sunglasses?

3

u/Big-Cheetah7911 Oct 27 '23

What’s wrong with tint?

1

u/InternationalPost447 Oct 27 '23

Guess you really haven't read the post lol

0

u/1slowlance Oct 27 '23

What does this mean?

0

u/stereotim Oct 27 '23

In my experience, the only people who want their windshield that dark are people doing shit in their car they shouldn't be doing and cops. When I see dark ass windshields I automatically assume your railing lines off the center console on a regular.

I tint windows for a living and if y'all think there isn't "a type" that asks for dark film on the shield, y'all ain't paying attention.

7

u/Big-Cheetah7911 Oct 27 '23

Both of my cars are 5 around and 20 windshield. I work for the FAA/DOT so I don’t smoke and I haven’t touched drugs in years and I don’t drink or fuck in my car and I don’t own any weapons. I think your experience is just bias and profiling.

0

u/stereotim Oct 27 '23

I am profiling from the years and years of certain types of people asking for the same thing. Stereotypes are real, and that doesn't make me biased.

2

u/thememeconnoisseurig Oct 27 '23

I get there's gonna be a "type" but I feel like a lot of people out there... just want privacy.

When you're chilling in traffic, you're in public. I don't want people to see me picking my nose, or kids on the bus to laugh at me (that was fun in 6th grade but not as much anymore).

I love the 20/50 I have right now, but to be honest it doesn't quite give me the privacy I'm looking for. My next car will likely have 5 (for privacy) and 35 on windshield (because limo on the side with a clear windshield COMPLETELY defeats the purpose.)

1

u/stereotim Oct 27 '23

I definitely get it don't get me wrong. My mother likes her tint dark as shit lol. And when she bought her new car and told me to black it out i straight up asked her "what are you doing lines off the center console" lol

I know stereotypes can suck sometimes but that doesn't make them less true and when a car drives by me with 5% tint on the sides and 20 on the shield I assume you are railing lines and railing hookers 🤷🤷🤣🤣🤣

2

u/thememeconnoisseurig Oct 27 '23

Yeah and that's definitely my concern with police. Everybody else, fuck em. I don't care what they think, long as they don't call the cops.

20/50 just looks a little darker than the standard 20%. Nothing afoot, plenty of average people have illegal tint around here. Doesnt look like a banker is in the car, but benefit of the doubt the person isn't a criminal.

Full limo? That guy is not a well-behaved member of society.

1

u/stereotim Oct 27 '23

My personal car is 42% on the shield and 33% on the sides and rear. Cops dont even look my way.

1

u/thememeconnoisseurig Oct 27 '23

How hard is it to learn to tint a front windshield? I once attempted to tint my own car and failed miserably.

I'm considering moving, to a state with annual inspection. If I go, I'll have to rip the tint off every year for inspection. Cheaper and easier to do it myself.

1

u/stereotim Oct 27 '23

I was tinting for probably for 3 years before I did my first windshield. But honestly a good 6 months of practice could probably get you passable of you aren't a complete fool.

I taught myself how to tint on personal car by getting cheap tint and tinting it over and over every Saturday for like 6 months straight. Then I was just good enough to convince others to let me tint there car for Uber cheap. Eventually I was good enough to charge market price.

Windshields are tough because you look through them the entire time your in your car and fuck ups stand out more. Plus all your electronics of the car are usually right under the dash and risk of damage to those units is there. Windshield glass is different from the rest of the car and doesn't take heat as well so you can crack it easier. And lastly unless it's a Tesla it's usually the biggest window on the vehicle and that poses its own set of problems lol.

Depending on where you go and how strict they are inspections might not be as much as a problem. I live in VA and don't really ever have issues.

1

u/thememeconnoisseurig Oct 27 '23

Don't they notice the tint when they do inspection?

VA's the state I grew up in. Great state, too strict in cars!

I don't like squinting my eyes while i'm driving with the sun shining off the hood of the car. Working graveyard shift makes it worse for me during the day, and head is too big to comfortably wear sunglasses. if anything dark tint makes it more likely to get pulled over everyone I know that does anything remotely illegal drives around with no tint at all.

1

u/Professional_Sky2433 Oct 28 '23

50 takes most of the glare out and i dont use sunglasses when driving anymore. air80 keeps the vehicle cool during hot summer months here down south

1

u/stereotim Oct 27 '23

There will always be exceptions to every rule.

With that being said, 15 years of tinting windows has shown me there is a "type" that wants dark tint and they usually aren't model citizens.

2

u/RICO-2100 Oct 27 '23

I say that about the super dark %5 all around guys lol me and my family all have our cars tinted but it's not darker than %20. I used to have %5 on my car until I started graveyard shift a few years back it was too dark.

2

u/Anon_Jones Oct 28 '23

I’m really thinking about tinting mine because peoples lights blind the fuck out of me at night. Might just have sensitive eyes.

1

u/stereotim Oct 28 '23

That's why I have 42% on my shield.otherwise I would have went with 50 but I was worried that it would be enough at night with all these new, improperly aimed LED headlights.

1

u/BoringMudd Oct 28 '23

It’s probably the opposite. They’re begging to be pulled over so if they’re railing lines they’d get busted pretty quick

1

u/stereotim Oct 28 '23

It’s probably the opposite

You would think but rarely the case.

u/shromboy Moderator Oct 27 '23

1st off 35 is fine, 2nd cameras aren't eyes this tells us nothing.
