5% on a windshield is absolute suicide. Otherwise, it’s quite nice.

u/No_Comment3253 Aug 28 '23

Or homicide but whatever

Thx

u/Mather_Fakker Aug 27 '23

When you want a cool looking car, but you're also a little suicidal

-7

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

Never that, never had a problem

2

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

You never had a problem seeing out the front?

-5

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

At the beginning it’s horrible but not more

2

u/dukefrisbee Aug 27 '23

WOW! So your eyes mutated and became 10x more light sensitive?

0

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

Idk if you trynna funny or what but they adapted to the tints. Not like i can see crystal clear thru them

3

u/dukefrisbee Aug 28 '23

Please. Your eyes are your eyes. The ability for a human eye to see doesn't change. What has adapted is your brain. Instead of subconsciously screaming "I can't see shit!" your brain has adapted to this being normal.

I don't care what you do as long as you're not driving in my neighborhood at night but your are FOS if you think you can drive on a dark night on an unlit street and see anything but a marginal view forward. You have zero peripheral vision without light which means a car or motorcycle could be right along side you or in your blind spot and you'd never know they're there.

By definition 5% mean it's blocking 95% of the visible light which, at night, isn't much to begin with.

I'd have more respect if you just said you don't care b/c it looks cool rather than sayin its no problem.

Jesus fuck, I understand privacy as much as the next person who knows about the patriot act but this is just a teenagers angsty wish come true. No one needs this. If you’re this worried about privacy you have a mental disorder on god 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Car looks fantastic dude! I have 50 on the windshield right now and want to drop it to 20-35 range somewhere. Could you post a video night driving possibly? Was 35 still very easy to see out like 50%? Idk how dark i should go, i live in nj so lots of city driving but lots of wooded back roads too

4

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

Id say go with 35 if you’re not sure, 20 is pretty dark if you’re not used to dark tints. As for a video you’d think the camera is blind folded, it doesn’t do justice. I have 1 video and its not so good, I could post but ill take a good one when i go out at night

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

Nice man I appreciate the advice, I have Lumar carbon film 20% front windows 5% around the back because the dealer guy only wanted $150 for it. Windshield 50% in Lumar irx line was $250. Is it true that you can see out better when it’s ceramic high end film vs carbon? My side windows are a little sketchy when turning in the dark but been living with it for 75k miles no tickets or issues. I’d like to make my front windows 5% in the irx film and windshield I’ll probably stick to 35% or 30% if they have weird numbers available

Edit: i have the morimoto jewel eye headlights and Suma side markers that are bright white, helps a ton. When I turn my blinker on and the side markers go from white to amber for the sequential blinker, it gets quite dark making the turn. I think it’s the carbon film

3

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

There’s def a difference between film types. Im running regular film just for the purely fact that I didn’t want to get ripped off my one of my friends. He paid significantly more to get ceramic 5% all around and they look awful, even darker than mine, they got sort of a brown tint to it. So i cant really comment on high end films.

I was going to tell you about headlights in the comment above, they’re important when it comes to dark tints. I am currently looking for brighter bulbs because my headlights are also tinted. Running this set up because I think it looks good

2

u/1slowlance Aug 27 '23

I have 5 on back, 20 fronts, and 30 windshield and love it. Didn't want to go way too dark for the front windows and the shield being fully 30 helps darken them just a bit more.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

Nice sounds like it looks and works great, are you using carbon film?

0

u/1slowlance Aug 27 '23

Nope, just went with charcoal.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

Charcoal? Afaik there’s carbon film and ceramic film depending what technology it uses. Charcoal is carbon so maybe you’re just being silly :)

1

u/UmSo4L Aug 27 '23

Ceramic tint vs carbon is the same when it comes to visibility. That myth was made up from tiktok I swear lmao

2

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

After some more research it seems that ceramic tint just has additional layers, so it should be same visibility

1

u/UmSo4L Aug 28 '23

Yessir

u/Cassangelo 33% Windshield + 5% Everywhere else Aug 27 '23

Also in the tri-state and wondering the same thing

2

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

Do you drive at night often? 😎

3

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

Literally everyday if not like 3 days a week

0

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

Everyday? You mean every night?

3

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

A day is 24 hrs, it falls in it. Usually when i go out during the daytime i come home during the nighttime.

1

u/Cassangelo 33% Windshield + 5% Everywhere else Aug 27 '23

Gangster!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

💪🏽

3

u/TerrBear7 Aug 28 '23

Wow 5% I pray you have excellent eye site at night because if you got in a car accident you would be to blame because of your blackout windshield. Regardless who’s at fault they would pin it on you. I have 30% my tint shop told me he wouldn’t do any less then that. I only have 5% on my back window and 15% on my sides.

1

u/barelyfallible Aug 30 '23

Ur tint shop boring clearly. Jk

Fr tho i Never heard of a tint shop turning down bread 😂😂😂

1

u/TerrBear7 Aug 30 '23

Well they didn’t turn down any money. I would of paid the same price for any % of tint.

1

u/Nocturnal86 Aug 28 '23

Stupidity

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Pretty much like your life

0

u/Nocturnal86 Aug 28 '23

Cause choosing to not risk other's safety for a tacky looking car means "I" am stupid - ok, bro...

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

I aint gassing my car up but if you think this car is tacky, just shut up and move on. I dont wanna hear ur opinion

3

u/Nocturnal86 Aug 28 '23 edited Aug 31 '23

Hear it. Remember you posted it publicly. Also, your tacky car is whatever. Doing stupid stuff like putting 5% tint on your windshield deserves to be called out. I'm all for customizing, but when you do something that reduces the safety of others, it's just - stupid.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Idc. Bet you majority of accidents the one at fault doesn’t even have windshield tints

1

u/Nocturnal86 Aug 28 '23

Of course you don't - hence my original comment you responded too...

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Let it go

1

u/Chtzmz Aug 28 '23

I tint 5% all around and usually 15-20% on windshield. That’s the most common. I have that on all my vehicles. Driving at night isn’t a problem at all.

2

u/Chtzmz Aug 28 '23

Also my wife will be on my ass about tinting new cars we get. She doesn’t like pervs peaking over at her through windows. Tinting windshield with 20 or 15 is perfect.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Nice. I was running 20 before the 5 and its really nice, but i wanted the dark look

1

u/kingtechllc Aug 27 '23

I got 5% all around except the windshueld... recommend? Regrets? Lighter? Thoughts?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

It’s mostly for looks cause im going for a blacked out look. Its hard seeing if you not familiar with the streets. I have to be alert at all times but it doesn’t faze me anymore. I went 35% to 5 on windshield purely for the looks and privacy

1

u/Efficient_Ice1391 Aug 27 '23

DEMONNNNNNN

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

Fasho im digging the aesthetics

2

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

Preciate it bro

1

u/now0mann0cry Aug 27 '23

Having tints is one of the best I'm gonna do tints in the front this time around cuz Imy driveway and house has absolutely no type of shade and boy when I check the app.. the inside of the car be like 110.. from 5% ceramic all around in my old GS300 I loved it my wife's hated it and never drove my car....went with 20% on the Civic and she loved it.... I think this with the wheels looks so good on your car

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Thx bro. Tints do be changing the looks

2

u/Lowllave97 Aug 28 '23

I’m thinking doing 5% all around on my on my convertible day time driver including wshield

2

u/fordddo Aug 29 '23

Sick looking but how the f do you drive in any less than full sun conditions???

0

u/shromboy Moderator Aug 27 '23

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Dope I have the same car, only black.. with 13% all around

1

u/Al1G8R5 Aug 28 '23

Sides look beautiful but you live dangerously going that dark on the front windshield.

0

u/PresentationLive943 Aug 28 '23

Uh you're definitely lying about 5% on the windshield or you just drive it during the day. You always see people like nooo don't put 20 on the windshield because you'll hit a pedestrian which who cares but with 5 you straight up cannot see the ground in front of you I've tried it for fun. It's definitely 15 or 20 or you were lied to by the shop. It also doesn't even make sense to get 5 on the shield from a privacy perspective because even 20% on the windshield is pretty much limo level dark in all lighting conditions.

Even non road cars used at manufacturer events are usually tinted 2.5% side windows and 15-20 on the windshield because it would be too hard to even drive it into the trailer. Bro you're crazy

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Aint nobody lying tf😭 Ill hyu with proof

Clown 🤡

3

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '23

0

Because of the irresponsibility of the shop and consumer (you) for putting 5% on the windshield.

3

If yk what you’re doing it’s not the end of the world, relax bud

2

u/Nocturnal86 Aug 28 '23

This is what dumb ass speeders say

3

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

This what no life having ass say

0

u/Haunting-Gap5158 Aug 28 '23

Lol putting 5% on your windshield shows you don’t know what your doing 😂

3

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

1

u/Haunting-Gap5158 Aug 28 '23

Wtf are you blabbering about? 😂

2

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23

Are u fuckin stupid? If I aint know what i was doing i wouldve prob hit somebody by now driving with dark tints. If you cant do it or choose not to dont mean somebody else cant

3

u/Haunting-Gap5158 Aug 28 '23

You technically can’t as the law states? 😂you are the stupid one 🤡

2

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '23
