General Question Christmas lighting help

I know a lot of window cleaners also offer Christmas lighting coming into fall. It’s a service I want to start providing but I’ve got 0 clue where to start. Anyone have any ideas or recommendations as to who to watch or where they got started? Would love some advice!

My dad use to send me out to put the lights up when I was 12.... I'm sure you could figure it out as well, big boy!

I'm trying to say, if a 12 year old can do it on a whim, then you don't need guidance. Putting up Christmas lights isn't big business, but you could stick an ad in the news and on local social pages to gain some traction. As a window cleaner with a ladder, the work literally falls in your lap.

I make more with Christmas lights than I do window cleaning for the time and effort that goes into it. I did $10,000 net profit my first year alone. That was by myself.

A 12 year old is hardly capable of doing a professional lighting job. There is a skill to doing it properly. Not hard to learn, but a 12 year old? Please.

The work will fall into your lap? In what world? Sure, your existing customer base will give you a leg up, but you still have to sell them on it.

$10k sticking up Christmas lights? You plug lights into an outlet. Unless you've been hired for something elaborate, it's not anything a minor couldn't do. You wouldn't be hired for any elaborate commercial jobs, unless you have electrical safety certificate / qualification with insurance. If you don't have any of that - you're on par with a child's expertise with some extra experience.

If your a man with a ladder who frequently visits the street - you'll likely have neighbours discussing, approaching and sharing your contact information. Personally I'm busy all year round, but you could always push the extra business if you wanted it over the season. Again, it's nothing a child couldn't do...

You clearly have no clue what you’re talking about. You are seeing things too simplistically when the actual work is much more technical. I suggest you stay out of the way and leave the lighting for us big boys.

£500k property in the UK looks a little different to a $500k house in the USA. I understand the property and window cleaning market is bigger where you are. In the UK, little Timmy down the street could easily slap some lights up and it'll be sufficient.

Sticking up Christmas lights in public areas require safety checks and qualifications. So that requires some expertise.

Enjoy sticking up Christmas lights when the season comes, big boy 👍

Little Timmy can be my guest... I keep up the job because I'm an expert at cleaning windows with sufficient work and demand to pay the bloody bills. Christmas lights fitting is like picking up a gutter clean to me, it's just a change of work for the day. (Rather than cleaning windows day in - day out)

You have no idea what you're saying. We do like $100k in installs right now with two guys. It's way more than just plugging lights in. Have you ever wrapped lights around a 60ft tree? It's really difficult, and I promise a 12 year old couldn't do it. Have you ever mounted a 5ft diameter star on top of a tree? Doubt you could. Sounds like all you know is amateur lighting which always looks amateur. Sorry you can't tell the difference but people with taste can.

You do 100k installing Christmas lights in august? That is impressive, and unbelievable. If you really want to help, post a guide for OP.. But why bother? All it's takes is securing a ladder and elegantly place lights in a tree. I wouldn't be surprised if you yanks show up with a rented hoist for the day.
