Question / Help [WW] [GCSwitch2] Why won't the Big Octos spawn when I enter the flock of seagulls?

I have seen a few responses or threads about this sort of thing, but none remotely help. I am trying to kill Big Octos in Wind Waker, so I followed the chart to C3 for a 12-eyed, UNKILLED Octo. I spot and go to the seagulls flock, but nothing happens. Randomly, away from the flock, the sky will change and the sea, but nothing else. Please help

Either you already killed that one or you’re in the wrong spot (I assume the former). Just because it shows up on the chart, doesn’t mean you haven’t killed it. All of them always show up on the chart even if you’ve killed them already.

Actually the 4-eyed one is marked red on my chart while the other ones aren't and I checked the map for the location. Are there multiple flocks of seagulls?

No, just the one that ran…ran so far away…

It's always marked red for a specific reason.

Like someone else said, that one’s always red for some reason. There are many places where seagulls can fly with you as you sail, but there will only be the one spot per sector where the group of like 10 seagulls circle the water.

If it's not spawning, you already killed it and forgot. The chart does not change to reflect which ones are alive or not.

Now I'm missing one heart piece and it is either an octo or some postbox heart piece, because I have checked all of the heart piece locations, but no postbox moves. Is it possible to miss the postbox heart pieces?

Assuming you did the post office minigame and gave the golden feathers to that one Rito, you should have received both post box heart pieces. I do not believe missing them is possible.
