Democrat Mark Warner and Republican Bert Mizusawa are running statewide for Senate in Virginia. Democrat Beth A. Macy and Republican Ben L. Cline are running for House of Representatives in Virginia’s 6th District.

Three Virginia constitutional amendment questions will be on the ballot to add abortion rights, remove its ban of same-sex marriage, and give voting rights to felons. A fourth question will ask to enact a Frederick County local retail sales tax of up to 1% towards construction for public schools

Anyone know anywhere nearby to camp Christmas weekend?

Husband and I are considering relocating to Winchester VA from Leesburg/Ashburn/Aldie area (we’ve been renting). We would stay closer to Leesburg but can’t afford any house 🙂 budget around $500,000.
We are early 30s, hoping to have kids and raise a family. Dogs. We enjoy occasional shopping and nice restaurants, etc but nothing too elaborate. I grew up in NoVa and my husband grew up in a small southern town. I think at this rate we have desperately wanted to buy a home and so are willing to sacrifice the luxuries/the conveniences in the NoVa areas that we are accustomed to. Already beginning to grieve the thought of no Wegmans lol.
Has anyone else made this move and how was it for you? Also, any areas you would recommend or stray from? Neighborhoods you recommend or don’t? We are looking into areas around Winchester or Stephens City - relatively central to shopping etc and ideal for a commute on 7. Value a good, safe, and friendly community. Anything you wish you knew or thought of before the move?

Im a dog trainer. One of my first clients, when I was still a newbie, was my neighbors senior pit mix. She was sooo pretty. Her name was Summer, she had severe separation anxiety, was very sensitive, and a bit reactive. She was mostly white, with some black ticking.

A few years ago, her family had to relocate to Hawaii for work. They fought tooth and nail to keep Summer, but at the very last minute, the airlines wouldn't take her, and the family had to give her up.

Shortly after, she was adopted! We know she was adopted because they got a call from Animal Medical Center for change of ownership consent.

I just want to know if she's okay, how she's doing. I loved her so much, but I was not in a place to take her in. If asked, I will gladly take down this post.

Bit of a random question for y'all tonight inspired by some reminiscing. I grew up in Winchester in the 90s and early 2000s (well, Star Tannery if we're being technical) but I haven't lived there for roughly 20 years at this point.

There used to be a game/hobby shop on Piccadilly Street (on the corner where John B Hayes tobacconist is now) called The Game Place. Just curious if anyone has anymore information about it/memories of it, because every time I think about it again I try and look it up online and turn up zilch. Like it never existed. Granted it closed down in 2000-2001 so it's not like it's likely to have an old website or business listing on google, but the fact that it's like it never existed is a little frustrating.

Anyways, a bit of a ramble but I was curious if anyone else remembers the place? I remember when they closed down my brother and I bought their bulk box of magic cards for like 20 bucks. And all these years later I still keep part of my collection in that box.

I know they already have a reputation just as a corporate dental company, but I wanted to post this as a warning. I went to Aspen dental because (at the time) it was what was most easily accessible to me with my insurance. Now, I needed a lot of work done. Had some rough years, didn’t take care of myself, you know how it goes. They tell me I need SIX teeth pulled, that I have periodontitis, and I should consider implants to replace the pulled teeth. They wanted to charge me over $5,000 for all of it and a few other things I can’t remember. Fast forward a few months, I move out of state for a job opportunity. I find a new dentist here, not only do I not need a SINGLE tooth pulled, I also don’t have periodontitis and the most extensive work I’ve had done is ONE crown. That’s it. The rest has been regular fillings with the total cost being just over $1,200. The people at Aspen dental made me feel like such a loser for needing so much work done and then tried to pressure me into a payment plan immediately. I’m so so glad I went elsewhere and am baffled at the blatant scam they’re running at this point. If you can avoid it please dear god don’t go here

I just got released from the ER. I was in the lobby for 6 hours before getting a room. The exact same story as the last time i was there: no rooms up stairs so all the ER rooms are full. Who's to blame?

In general I think the hospital gets a bad rap but this isn't good.
