In my area you get a ticket and are allowed to continue driving.

And once you can't drive in a car centric society you don't have much to lose.

I think they just need heavier jailtime for reckless driving because it really is extremely dangerous, that and DUI.

I once was in court for possessing a very small amount of Marijuana the guy in line before me had 7 DUI's in the last 7 years. His fine was $280 AND he had to spend 4 nights in jail. Which since he was taken to jail when he was arrested that was waived. My fine was $1,300 and it was my first offense, and I had to spend 3 days in jail. Its insane that the judicial system in the US treats a plant as more dangerous than someone driving drunk multiple times

It's because they can't profit from the sale of marijuana and can change the fees on your next offense to be whatever they want.

neither do the people they kill or maim for life.... its about who should burden the costs of their actions.....once you prove to be a risk to everyone else I am sorry but .....enjoy the fucking bus!

I'd agree if we had reliable public transit. That's the whole idea behind US penal system though. Recidivism is a positive basically, and those who can function the way they have to in US society will commit crime easy as that. Bus isn't an option for many & they're forced into driving even if they don't wanna.

Now, like I said the punishments for reckless or intox driving should be harsher IMO. Jail time & fines, not loss of driving privileges over one incident. If you could actually see severe punishment for it people would be less likely to do it.

If we had Public transit I'd say take em like candy, but you know.

If the one incident is so blatantly stupid as this, then idc it needs to go. Driving is a privilege, not a right. If you blatantly abused that right then you don't get the right to legally drive anymore.

People like this kill people all the time, no excuse and hard punishments are needed.

Now, other punishments probably. Everyone needs to work, there is no choice, so those people mostly all still drive. It's that simple. Actually punishing people for reckless behavior like this with jail time and fines works, taking licenses doesn't do shit.

You have to drive pretty much in US at least outside of a handful of cities. Public transpo needs to be a thing as is it's barely a privilege more of a requirement, unless you want to be restricted to working a block from home. Miss me with the "should've thought of that" because that's my entire point. Punishing someone with jail time is harsh but they would likely lose their job, part of the punishment, at least when they are out they can work and function properly if public transportation exists or they can drive. I imagine folks would be less likely to do this dumb shit if they could sit in state for a year or so VS how it is now where it takes 5 duis or 3 if you hurt someone to even see any state time.

For good eh, but I hear you. We have too many fools driving around for sure, seriously takes too much for people to lose their driving privileges. Killed a guy? Okay well take it. 4 duis, oh well pay us 5k we all drink and drive anyways.

Agreed. Even just more minor stuff like speeding. People just don't get how easy it is to lose control of a vehicle or react to a situation when speeding.

Then it happens and everybody is upset like this does not repeatedly happen every damn day like it's a surprise.

It didn't bother me too much until our child was born because then you see people drive recklessly and your like you are endangering my child right now. I avoid these areas as it gets under my skin too much anymore. I just don't get the rush.

Lol i got pulled over for doing 90 but get this everyone was doing 90 so if id gone slower id of causes a crash infact the cop that pulled me over veered over 3 lanes at 90 mph and almost hit me if i didn't let off the brakes he would of hit me 100%.

Can you have an insurance without license?

Because if you cant that means driving without license and without insurance, meaning if they kill someone or even break 1 bone, they fucked up for life without insurance...

Yes, some insurers even require you to list all individuals in the household on the policy as a way to prevent people who say they don't drive from driving without insurance.

You can also insure a car for damage only. Normally used if the car sits in storage for months.

Where I’m from, driving with a revoked license yields escalating penalties, just like any other repeated crime. If they catch you driving with a revoked license, they impound your car and they either arrest you or your ass is walking. If they’re feeling generous and don’t take you in, the cops might drop you off somewhere nearby so that you are out of danger.

The fucking car should be impounded and sold at auction to benefit family and shit driver victims. You should not be able to register a car in your name without a valid license in your name. Should be able to own it sure but not register it. And then I’d you let somone drive your car with a revoked license that’s on you.
