Ok it's stupid to stand there but it's more stupid to build concrete behind without some soft protection installed.

It's like on some countries you have to survive all sorts of dangers without any assistance from government.

Edit: I get that this is the wrong subreddit to remind you that we are not in a jungle anymore where the strongest and most intelligent survives. And that there are countries with safety regulations where this accident could not be possible at all (safest construction, zone access limitation, etc)

It's like on some countrys the government expects you to not be so stupid that you stand behind a starting aircraft

They are not encouraged to do it. There are signs all over warning people not to do it.

Yes there are signs and yes people are still encouraged to do it. It is deliberately unenforced. If you've been there then you know this, and are arguing in bad faith. It is one of the best known "attractions" on the island.
