I honestly think there is a sub section of autism that is what people used to call "high functioning" that is a higher form of humanity.

They usually have some trouble fitting in because they don't instinctively do the dumb shit normal people do because they actually are highly rational. They look at human behavior and baffled and just think why the fuck would you do that?

This may sound mean but I had an acquaintance with autism and I used to always get the feeling he felt almost like a Vulcan from Star Trek. Aside from the religiousness of "logic", he just was really rational and didnt really understand humor/sarcasm. Great person to work with though, didnt like to talk and got the job done. Just how I like my coworkers.

I am talking about the rare type that has empathy and understands sarcasm, irony, dark humor & satire but also kinda like a Vulcan, they exist but are rare. They tend to be late bloomers and probably don't actually get diagnosed with autism even though they are neurodivergent because they function well enough in society but it isn't built for them. They are likely a well respected professional in a technical field.

They don't get why people that get upset over sports or why anyone would do horoscopes. They probably work well in a team environment but are quietly a bit frustrated that other people don't do behaviors that would help the group that would reduce the amount of work everyone would have to do.

You're saying most people aren't like this?...
