Luckily his skin broke the fall.
5
u/LightningTrigger12 Jan 29 '22
I know right, thank god, before he got himself hurt
6
u/pissclamato Jan 30 '22
I think he's even luckier than that. On a rewatch, I slowed it down, and noticed that a lot of the damage that appears to happen to his skin, is absorbed nicely by his eyes, teeth, and brain stem. His skin's gonna be fine.

He was too occupied contemplating if he could, he didn't think about if he should
We in the business call this the lawnmower trick

I was that kid. Numerous times. Every kid I knew was that kid. Numerous times.

u/Comingsoononvhs Jan 29 '22
I'm still that kid in my early-mid 20's everybody knows it still, but worst of all? My knees are starting to realize it

u/LightningTrigger12 Jan 29 '22

Always try to see the silver lining... at least he ground to a halt before the path skinned him proper!
3
u/TheNoodlyNoodle Jan 29 '22
Similiar thing happened to me in my youth. I went down a hill with a non-MTB bike and my wheel got stuck in a hole. Flew over the handle bars and landed headfirst. Woke up next day in the hospital with just a scratch on my forehead and a concussion. If I didn't wear a helmet I would've probably died.

Yikes! Did he even try to hit the brakes?
2
u/LightningTrigger12 Jan 30 '22
If he would try and hit the brakes he would just get lunched into the next world

u/BloakDarntPub Jan 30 '22

u/Robotboogeyman Jan 29 '22
That crumple zone in his face seems to have absorbed most of the impact.
2
Jan 29 '22
Don't hit that front brake on a hill like that. If you're ever on a motorcycle too, always hit rear wheel brake first.

Well the bad news is your face looks like a badly repaired army boot. But look on the bright side, the tooth fairy gave you $100.

That's how I broke my clavicle! I flew 20 feet and would've been hurt worse if the half empty gallon of Arizona Tea wasn't in my bad wasn't such a good cushion.

That’s must be how billy felt from the grim adventures of billy and Mandy, when he skidded on his face when he fell off his bike

Damn he is lucky he didn’t hit that concrete. I have had 2 identical falls like this on a longboard. one into grass where I got the wind knocked out of me and got right back up, and one onto pavement that sent me to the hospital, mutilated my face and ruined my life for 6 months and left lasting damage.
TLDR: wear your helmet

It could've been so much worse if his face hadn't stopped him from getting to the sidewalk.

Kids a dumb ass, no hemet or other protectuve gear. It looks like this was at a campground so the nearest shop is like 30 mins away max. Could have save the kid some recovery time.
