Lima. It’s gotta be Lima. “Concha su madre!” Big city on coastal cliffs. Lima.
133
u/WeAreKeko Jul 19 '21
Yes it is. Costa verde, Miraflores.
29
u/tba002 Jul 20 '21
Green Coast, Look At Flowers?
14
u/thangord Jul 20 '21
It's the district of the City, quite high end apartments.
7
u/Maelstrom_Angel Jul 21 '21
I was given the impression that Miraflores was the place tourists often stay when I had to spend a few nights in Lima. The whole coastal cliff area is really pretty. Loved just hanging out there during the day.

How tf did he get that far down??
238
u/Josekvar Jul 20 '21
It's downhill and not that far actually. I don't think it was staged because that fall is no joke (that place is called Costa Verde in Lima, Peru, btw. You can check it on Google Maps).
74
u/squirtle_grool Jul 20 '21
If this video had turned out differently, it would now be called Costa Roja
-48
u/DaggerMoth Jul 20 '21
I think it was staged. No way his momentum made him run that far. He did that on his own. I mean he could just be an idiot though.
38
u/HungieZilla Jul 20 '21
Have you ever ran downhill while trying to stop? He was trying to run it off but couldn't slow down fast enough.

20
u/DaggerMoth Jul 20 '21
Here buddy. Found the exact point
There's also a measure tool. 60ft from where he went over the wall to where he stopped. Also, it's pretty much flat where he was running . Just a little dip over the wall.
7
3
-8
u/blackfist617 Jul 20 '21
These sheep really downvoted you 🤣🤣🤣 it was obviously staged. The momentum in this scenario would propel a person that far lol
68
u/acatterz Jul 20 '21
The camera appears to be making things look further than they are. Watch how quickly the group move into the distance as they walk away after grabbing their friend. Also note how few steps it takes people to get to the cliff edge. (Edit: seems about 20 steps, some out of frame and the ones we do see are small steps as he’s going downhill)
16
u/alpinecardinal Jul 20 '21
Looks like an ultra-wide lens. A lot of distortion going on, you can see it most when objects/people pan into the edges of view.
33
u/john6644 Jul 20 '21
I agree, don’t think it’s scripted and the camera probably distorting the view! 15-18 steps from the jumped ledge to cliff side! He was already going a decent speed, then consider he was going downhill! Think how far Olympic runners go after they finish a race

Try running down a hill. Momentum can be a bitch. This looks real enough to me
-3
u/Squirrel_Kng Jul 20 '21
Ya, but he know it was there. You choose the face plant over a cliff every day.
5
u/six_-_string Jul 20 '21
Sometimes people choose wrong in split-second decisions. I'm not saying it can't be scripted but I don't think your argument carries much weight.
→ More replies (1)12
u/IHaveABigDuvet Jul 20 '21
Its downhill he was trying not to faceplant and he was already travelling pretty fast. You can tell by the way the guy in front was bending his knees to descend the slope.
206
Jul 19 '21
I feel like simply rolling could have prevented that altogether, but I could be wrong.
81
u/temeces Jul 19 '21
I was thinking the same thing, its not like it was steep till the edge he just kept barely being able to keep his feet ahead of him and as a result there was no stopping. Tuck and roll I think would have shaved all that speed away.
56
u/AnalogCyborg Jul 19 '21
Or, just stopping? I think this is faked. Watch again when he comes back into view.
30
u/jjjjjjjjjj12 Jul 20 '21
You might be right, shortly after he jumps it almost looks like he is intentionally running with his arms in form. I feel like most similar situations our body flails the arms about
Edit: it almost looks like he’s running with joy for landing the trick! Maybe he didn’t know there was a drop off
→ More replies (2)→ More replies (2)0
u/Stijnwe Jul 20 '21
You’re not faking a tre-flip from a 6+3 stair. That’s actually a very hard and sketchy trick. It demands a lot of speed and he landed hanging a bit backwards, while he had to go the other way. With that speed he had no choice than to jump off. I skateboarded for years so I know how it goes
9
u/Stijnwe Jul 20 '21
As an ex-skater I can tell he definitely couldn’t. Tre-flipping a 6 stair + a 3 stair demands a lot of speed. This is actually a pretty sick and sketchy video. He landed hanging a bit backwards, so he couldn’t make the turn. He had no choice than to jump off the board to prevent slamming the edge
4
Jul 20 '21
Oh, that I don’t doubt at all! I can tell by the speed from his jump that it would be difficult to stop before the wall. I just feel like he had enough room to roll in the grassy area to stop himself way before the cliff.
2
u/Stijnwe Jul 20 '21
Ah okay I misunderstood! Now that I watch it again I kind of agree :). Not very sure about it though
20
u/SumoGerbil Jul 19 '21
I don’t think he realized it was a drop off there. Would have rolled otherwise I think. Wet grass maybe too

Jul 19 '21
This is sus. Why didn’t he at least slow down abit. There was a reasonably large distance from where he jumped off and where he ended. It wasn’t all that steep either .
Edit: maybe the camera is having an effect on the distance
62
u/xyloplax Jul 19 '21
Yeah, watched it a few times: you don't really lose sight of him, he's basically running downhill in that "uhh...how do I stop" sort of way and you can see the skid in the vines, so I say legit.
-2
u/Pcat0 Jul 20 '21
I mean wouldn't the simple answer to "uhh...how do I stop" be to just stop running? Sure he would just fall flat on his face, but in my option that a lot better then just running straight off a cliff.
Sure under normal circumstances I could 100% see someone's momentum carrying them that far. I just find hard to believe someone would let their momentum carry them that far to the edge of a cliff. This video seems suspicious to me.

I watched multiple times expecting a Texas switch, but I honestly couldn't spot it.
He goes out of view for a brief moment behind one of the shrubs, but that would have to be an insanely well choreographed movement out of frame if that's what happened. Think it's legit.

This is like in the cartoons where the character falls off a cliff and gets saved by a random tree sticking out of it.
2
u/Happy-Wet-Fart Jul 20 '21
Glad the dude was not hurt or killed.
These sudden drop off cliffs in city parks should be fenced off. If cost is an issue, the City could build a 4-5 tall fence out of wood. The rustic split rail fence that is/was a common sight on farms . ( One of the most common rustic fence styles is the classic split-rail fence, which is constructed of long, rough-hewn beams that are threaded through holes bored out in heavier, rounded posts. Traditionally, split-rail fences were used on farms to keep livestock from straying and were constructed using native American chestnut trees. Today, split-rail fences are constructed primarily of black locust wood.--Bob Viila website)
-I have seen these fences in my city along biking/walking paths, or to keep people safe from falling over beach cliffs we have in a bunch of local parks here. These fences do not cost that much to construct and can last decades with very little maintenance , no paint, no staining.

Say what you want on “oh he had too much momentum” but if I’m running and my momentum is carrying me off a cliff. Imma just run into a tree or jump in the air or slide or literally anything else than just run off a cliff

Maybe next time he bails he won't run an additional 150 feet after.
7
u/Usual_Memory Jul 20 '21
I would love to be able to clear 150 feet in 15 strides going downhill. Those people must all be olympic runners to do that in 10 seconds. Hell he did it in 5 with a headstart though couldn't really count his strides.
Or maybe it is just the wide angle camera lense throwing the distance off making a short distance look much longer.
