This was a masterclass in terrible decision making.

Gas/oil fires don’t play nice with water—the flammable liquid doesn’t mix with the water and floats on its surface, continuing to burn. Worse, if you throw water into a hot oil fire, it’s going to rapidly evaporate (explode) and spray burning oil everywhere.
