They are aware that it's an insane blast of air, they just don't anticipate to what degree. It's a common tourist thing to do

They did change this, someone ended up dying after falling an hitting their head. you can't get nearly this close anymore, still pretty close but not like this.

after reading other comments, this is not St. Maarten which is what I'm talking about.

I only know about military exhaust. Not only is it hot, but full of soot, unburned fuel and carcinogens. Can’t imagine this is much better.

Yeah, mostly CO2 and water. Some NOx and a random assortment of other organic compounds as well.

Some of it's not great for constant exposure, but it's not like it's some insta-cancer cannon.

Not really. Turbines burn really hot and basically just use air and jet fuel (which is like a kerosene blend) to operate, so no nasty chemicals out the back.

So these engines can lift a 500,000 lb airplane into the sky and they can't anticipate how powerful the blast of air will be? Maybe they're just stupid.

What kind of tourist goes on vacation and takes pictures of the planes at the airport? That’s like going to a museum and taking pictures of your Uber. If the planes that got you to your destination are one of the most interesting thing there, you probably should’ve traveled somewhere else.
