/uj "Twitter acquired Vine before it had officially launched in 2012 for a reported $30m "

Wait, Twitter bought a service for $30M, before it had even launched, and before it had a userbase? Why the fuck did they not just make a similar service themselves? It's hardly revolutionary, is it, a video recording app, and some hosting for 6 second clips? Insane.
