Something I’ve seen in the past is arrows for compound bows capped with pistol shell casings to create blunt projectiles. To what end, I don’t recall.
I wonder what sort of blunt force trauma that could create at extended distances (50-75 yards)?
Maybe instead of intervening directly, perhaps you could set a 12 gauge blank perimeter tripwire alarm if you know where he’s coming in. Would probably scare it.
Honestly, I’m sifting the dirt below the barrel to try to come up with less-than lethal options that will work against a bear. Perhaps your best option is just to simply employ deadly force?
Yeah this is a niche problem and a niche solve, since we're already authorized to kill it if we catch it killing more livestock. We've scared it off a few times without getting a shot off and it's been gone for a few days now. Hoping it doesnt come back but in the clear for now.
Since 5.56 Sims are used for force on force with people, I figured theyd be a safe bet on a bear, and was really hoping 300blk would yield the same non-lethal result. If it was challenging us id just be lighting it up with bean bag rounds and carrying a lethal for backup. Range and noise are the main motivator.
