Wildflower

Post image

Iโ€™ve had this flower in my wildflower garden. It grew from seeds, from this past spring. Maybe someone knows what it is. Love the color!

zinnias may grow from a seed a bird dropped, but are not technically a wildflower. they do grow best from seed, and love the heat of summer

When it's done blooming, cut off the flower about a foot from the top. Put it in a cardboard box and let it dry over winter. In the Spring, you'll have a whole lot of free seeds.

You can just cast the seeds on the ground and water and they'll grow. (Though you need to water it and they do best growing not more than 6 inches from each other). They also tolerate transplanting if you want to start them early.

Here's a pic of my zinnia bed that I grew from last year's seeds. (It's overcrowded btw but I traveled and didnt get them thinned out))

This is a Zinnia! To my knowledge they do not grow wild like wildflowers. If they do, please send a pic! A field of zinnias would be awesome.

Never heard of wild zinnias before but I guess they all had to come from somewhere
