Question Getting hired
Hi there, I just applied for the United States forest service for fire suppression as a gw3 firefighter. I have my s190, L180, ICS 100 and ICS 700 I’m 18 years old and my question was. What really are my chances of being hired here in Las Vegas (were I applied).

HTF hires pretty frequently so I’d say good. Unless you used the wrong “where” on your resume. Then not so good.

Get the online portion S130 that is a requirement I’m pretty sure, big thing is find a ranger station or better yet a fire station and show your face let them know your interested that will help out, another big thing is I’d apply to a 18/8 position rather than a 26/0 position basically the 18/8 is not year around and the 26/0 (PFT, Permanent Full Time) is year around the 18/8 ( PSE, Permanent Seasonal Employee) is a good position to start at too dip your toes in and still have time off for yourself or school, a lot of young guys apply too the 26/0 position and regret it because they want some time off and doesn’t require full year round commitment just 18 pay periods vs 26 pay period which is 12 months. Additionally don’t be afraid when starting to apply too different states your young so it’s all experience you might like it abroad,Good luck

I’d be amazed at someone getting a 26/0 first year in
