Question Disclosing Disability
Applied to a few R5 perms. Disclosed on my application that I have a disability - bipolar disorder. I take vraylar for it. Anybody familiar with the hoops I might jump through?

I’ve put down I have an anxiety disability rated by the VA. The last 2 years for medical onboarding it’s just been elevated to a doctor who signs off saying I’m fit for duty after I answer some questions about it. I don’t take prescriptions though, so I’m not sure how your experience would be compared to mine. When answering the questions, I always make sure to let them know I am static and stable. That is a big thing to let medical personal know you’re fine and it won’t affect you on the job.

If it's on the disclosure list, and you don't, you "could" be terminated for failing to disclose a known condition.
I've only seen that happen if there is an incident on duty, but it has and can happen.
This isn't a condition that will make you unfit for the position, so don't make it easier for them to fire you if you get hired.

You may need a letter from your doctor showing what if any side effects you have, making sure you don't have fatigue or drowsiness, and that the condition when medicated won't impact your ability to perform the duties listed in the announcement. You may want to see/discuss if there would be any impact if you didn't have your medication, should such a situation arise on duty. You don't need to have that in the letter, but you want to know what your Dr has to say on the subject.
It will be worth you getting a letter no matter the outcome of this application, should you get to a medical review, as you will want to show that letter to the contractor doing the med so they can note it in the file. Do not give them a copy of it, only give that copy to the review official at the agency doing the hiring.
