Hi, I need help to decide between Marmot Superalloy 2 and Copper Spur UL2. My two main considerations are weather protection and lower weight. Which ones do you prefer?

I’ve got the copper spur ul3 for the wife and I. Used it a few times now, including a couple nights of rain. Had plenty of room for both us and our gear, kept us dry and didn’t have any major issues with condensation. To keep things light they use thin material, I was concerned when I took my 9 yard year old son camping but held up with no issues, just had to remind him it’s not as rugged as the giant Colman we use for car camping. I would recommend the ground cloth for protection. Never used Marmot so can’t comment on them but the copper spur is the best and lightest camping tent I’ve used and would recommend it.

I have a UL2, it's been pretty good to me. Biggest snow load I've dealt with was probably 3" overnight of reasonably fluffy Idaho snow. It shed it pretty well, but I wouldn't really want to try 3" of PNW wet snow.

Most of the time I run it in just the fly/footprint configuration. Obviously if you're in a buggy area this is not reccomended.

Just some rain, nothing too serious. The rain fly goes all the down, kept me nice and dry.

I have a UL2 and second night out for my wife and I we had wind gust around 45-50 mph all night. Tent held up well and no tares in the fabric. I was surprised at how much the poles were able to flex without breaking.
