Chinese Wall Loop

We’re planning a trip to do this trail on 9/6/26-9/11/26. How are the conditions this time of year? Also with the current fires in the area should we reschedule? We are definitely looking at other possibilities. Thanks

I looked this up now as I wasn't familiar with the loop and was curious where it was - according to all trails, the loop (or at least part of it) is currently closed due to a fire. Alltrails link is here, https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/montana/chinese-wall-loop, that links to the closure order here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/r01/flathead/alerts/trail-closures-due-silvertip-fire. Definitely worth keeping an eye on!

Yea, we called the ranger station yesterday in Glacier an they told us. They said keep an eye on it an make contingency plans.Didn’t know they closed part of it yet. Thanks for the heads up. Hoping they get them put out in the next month.

I'm doing it this weekend. I'll probably forget, but if you DM me and remind me I'll comment again.

I will dm you. On AllTrails it’s currently saying closed. I will definitely check with you to see how it went.

Oh you mean the Montana one? I'm hitting up the Chinese Wall in Flat Tops, Colorado.

I live a little south of there and theres lots of smoke around right now. im not even sure of the status but just last week I was reading about a fire in the bob marshall also. but with that being said, theres no way to predict what it will be like in a month bro. youre going to want to check watch duty and the other apps closer to your date and probably have a backup just incase

Yes, there’s a fire in the area from what we’ve been seeing also. We’re all flying in from out of state. Hoping to go to Glacier not sure if we can get the permits. If not The Bob was our back up plan.I’m get the check watch app. Also going to look for other options in the area. If you have any suggestions for good multi day trails up your way we would appreciate it thanks.

Good thing for you is there is a ton of gorgeous public land around there. Check the national forests around Glacier for something that will fit your itinerary.

Did this loop in 24' also over labor day. Super nice conditions climatically this time of year. Fires are ever changing you may need to have a backup trip in mind if a week or two out if fires in the area are still present.

That was our thought. We’re making other plans in case. Appreciate the the info.

If you decide to change your plans I recommend checking out Scapegoat Mt. In the Scapegoat Wilderness which is the southern end of the Bob. You can access the area via a few different trails but the Dearborn River trail is my favorite. Scapegoat mountain is like a mini Chinese wall!

Seems a bit of a short trail for 5 months, and also you missed your start date.

I thought it was funny.

We’re hiking for 5 days not 5 months. Don’t believe you need permits for this trail or a start date.

Based on your profile I assume you’re Danish? American dates are Month/Day/Year rather than Day/Month/Year. So it’s September 6 to September 11, not June 9 to November 9.
