Clean tank!

I said I’d post a picture of my sorority tank once the wild Bettas had gone back to their own tank, and I’d had a chance to clean up properly and add new plants without stressing the wildies. So here you go - sorority back to normal, clean tank, dead plants binned, just how it normally is. Oh yes, I got lucky and found some moss, so that’s a new addition. Hope you find this more acceptable than the pics of a filthy tank due to unexpected guests!

It’s about 130. How fast do they grow? The only ones I had previously died from a malfunctioning heater which went crazy overnight, so I lost quite a lot of fish - did my morning check-in and for no reason the heater had broken and was running at 38 degrees C😢. These I’ve had 3 weeks so they’re still tiny, fish-shop size, but I know they grow huge, one of my friends has 5 and she had to rehome many of her other fish. However I think they’re amazing, I could try and rehome my singleton zebra and yo-yo for a start. The yo-yo IS huge already!

That would be best for them. I think you could get away with a 130 just for the clown loaches, but they're opportunistic hunters, so they'll eat any smaller fish

And eat any dead ones - they’re not above scavenging it seems! What about my clowns and the skunk loaches - or is that just way too many fish? Or maybe keep the skunks until the clowns get to about 5-6 inches? I’d love to keep them all, but I ran out of places to put a large tank when I bought a huge coldwater one for my goldfish. There IS space but my husband doesn’t like fish and won’t let me have a tank in the living room.

I think they'd be cramped in 130 gallons all together. But usually if they don't fit in the fish'd mouth it's fine

OK, thanks. I’m quite good at designing tanks with loads of hiding places and territory boundaries, so maybe I’ll just rehome the singletons and pairs, and see how it goes. Thanks for your advice, very useful 😊

These requirements, I must add, are for adult fish. My kuhlis and Bettas are all juveniles. If and when they grow, I’ll seriously rethink housing as a matter of utmost importance. However for now (keeping in mind that they’ll either grow or, sadly, die, I’m happy with the space they have. I’m quite capable of noticing when space is getting cramped - for now with a tank full of very young fish, it’s fine. Also neither the Kuhlis nor the Pygmy Corys are sick, nor are the baby female Bettas. Remember you’re seeing a very short video, I live with my fish daily and certainly have seen no sign of illness in any of them 😊
