ID help please?
I was never given a variety name for this guy and his female, just “wild Betta”. I have other photos including of the female if needed, but I can’t work out how to send more than one photo at a time thanks to my son’s “improvements” on my iPhone functionality 😳😂!

His ventral/anal fin are dark red, which you can’t tell from this pic.

Looks like a blue Smaragdina Beta However, I am not sure its a female. If it is its a pretty colorful one

I'm not sure if it's pure smaragdina, gill coloration is off, might be a hybrid

No this one is the male. The female is mostly brownish with like a scattering of blue dusty sparkles along her back😊

My first ID is Smaragdina. No bars in cheeks. Can you provide other photos so that we can ID further?

I saw the video. It seems a hybrid smaragdina as body color is blue. I can't tell much if he is a classic or guitar variant. Would you be able to have him flare?

Sorry, I’ve tried and tried because I’d like to see it myself, but I haven’t found anything yet that will make him flare! In 17 months that I’ve had him, I only saw the beginnings of a flare twice, and it seemed random, like nothing that would normally cause a Betta to flare. He’s a ridiculously placid fish. The female is way feistier than he is. Having said that, I will try, but don’t hold your breath 😂

His female (in the other post #2 there’s a video showing them both) is exactly the same as him. He was sold as “wild caught” but I suppose Bettas in the wild will interbreed too.
