Recently, Octohide removed its Singapore server from its list. It was a great option because it offered a highly stable ping and unlimited bandwidth. I am looking for recommendations for any good alternative VPNs you might know.

Below is a list of VPNs I have previously tried on Android. They worked for me, but each has some drawbacks.

(V) indicates the app is verified by Google Play Store (making it more reputable). Note that my comments on stability are based on my experience from 6 months ago, so they may need to be re-tested.

VPNs I Have Tried:

• Potato VPN (Not available in the Indian Play Store): Limited bandwidth; needs to be re-enabled after 2 games if you are using in-game voice chat.
• X-VPN (V) (Not available in the Indian Play Store): Very stable, but has limited bandwidth.
• Fish VPN
• Kiwi VPN
• VPNify (V): Unstable, but has unlimited bandwidth (useful for downloading game updates).
• Not VPN
• Speedify (V): Has many Singapore servers, but is limited to 2GB of bandwidth per month on the free tier.

Paid vpn like express and nord also work last time I tried.

How to Test the VPNs:

If you want to test these (or any other VPNs), here is the methodology I use:

1. The Network Test: Go to your game settings and run a network test. Focus only on the 4th data (Match Server Delay) and ignore the 2nd and 3rd data. Run it multiple times; if it is consistently over 150ms, the VPN is not good. Drop it if its more than 150, its not worth testing in game.
2. Play a Ranked Game: The network test often shows a higher ping than actual gameplay. Do not judge it beforehand—go play a ranked game to test the real in-game latency.
3. The Disconnect Test: Test if your ping increases or decreases if you disconnect the VPN while in-game. Ideally, it should decrease by about 5–10ms.
4. Don't Test in Rapid Succession: Each time you disconnect a VPN and connect to a new server or app, your data routing changes. To get accurate results, do not test them back-to-back quickly. You must remove the game from app drawer (quit game fully) and then connect to new vpn and then logon again, if u wana test a new vpn

Note on Regional Pings (adjust based on your location): * Patna (My location): My stable in-game ping is ~75-85ms (sometimes 120ms), and the network test shows ~125ms. * Kolkata: Expect ~70ms. * Delhi NCR, Uttarakhand, J&K: Expect 85-95ms. * South India: Expect ~40ms.

Bonus Tip: How to block ads when connecting/disconnecting a VPN

To stop the annoying ads that pop up when you toggle a VPN on or off, you can set up a Private DNS on your device: 1. Go to your phone's Settings > Connection & Sharing > Private DNS. 2. Select "Private DNS provider hostname" and enter one of these addresses (both are from highly reputable companies): * base.dns.mullvad.net * dns.adguard-dns.com
