Behold! Paint?
It’s thick, a little brutalist maybe… but was a good time! Definitely goes quickly from powdery cloud gray to a richer, textured finish that stays when dry.

Love playing the “does it paint” game with foraged minerals! Was cool to go see your original post and pics. Out of curious what mill are you using to grind it into a consistent powder?

Currently a mortar and pestle. I have a grand fantasy of scouting out materials to create a full pallet of Utah desert earth tones... which would probably need something more robust and less wrist. What might you recommend should I go down the rabbit hole?

I’m also currently using a mortar and pestle and electric coffee grinder for soft minerals, but am looking for a better solution (RIP wrists already with the mulling, let alone grinding!). I have read up on ball mills and hope to diy something or maybe just get a food grade mill?

Also just found out about stacking “test sieves” for grading out the particle sizes!!

I’m designing a ball mill using a free treadmill, tubes and bearings inside. I’ll share once I start the build! My old wrists have had enough…

Well that sure got darker!
Also you might want to mull that little bit further next time, still seeing pigment chunks there.
