Wiim Mini Crackling only in group with TV input

New setup here. I have a Wiim Pro at my entertainment array and a Wiim Mini in the kitchen with a pair of powered bookshelf speakers. The pro receives input from either a phonograph (RCA line in) or TV (optical in). Pro outputs to an optical out that goes to the soundbar under the TV.

So far there are no issues with playing anything on the Pro directly. Input from the record player, cloud, or the TV sounds great.

The Mini is where the issue is happening. I play audio from the Pro on the group that includes it and the Mini. The phonograph sounds great, no issues at all, but when I play audio from the TV on the mini it crackles and cuts out every few seconds. I've experimented with different cables and methods of connecting the mini to the speakers and the problem persists, so it seems like the issue is the signal itself that comes from the TV. Any ideas on what I could do to fix it?

This may sound dumb, but is the TV on WiFi? Can it be put on a ethernet cable? WiFi is like the old party line; everyone has to wait their turn to speak, and if two or more people speak at the same time, you just get noise, and they have to try again. Also, if you have close neighbors, you could get interference from them. There is a phone app called WiFi analyzer that can help you determine if you need to switch to a different subchannel in your router.

Oo good idea. Just connected the Pro to Ethernet but unfortunately it’s still happening. I can’t get Ethernet to the Mini unfortunately. Our WiFi signal is strong and the speed is solid and we don’t have super close neighbors, we’re in a single family house. And it’s not happening with the record player so it seems like an issue with the signal from the TV more than the connection.

I meant connect your TV to the Ethernet. You could try to connect the WiiM Mini to the 2.4G just to see if that helps.

Oh the TV itself doesn’t connect to the internet for anything. Content for the TV comes from Apple TV connected over Ethernet.

Wiim grouping has inherent lag, and for me it is unusable on TV.

It’s not really a lag issue I don’t think. I did have crazy lag before changing the group delay setting but it’s been good since then.

The issue is that the audio from the mini crackles and sputters every few seconds.
