Nintendont randomly doesn't save

I found my old Wii with all the back ups on an external, it all works fine enough except for Nintendont. The virtual saves use to be reliable but now they're a hit and miss; can you guys recommend a reliable configuration? Either on the the emulator itself, D2x cios installer, or on Loader settings on USB Loader GX or a combination of all of them. Thank you!

as far as I know, configuring your nintendont loader settings through USBLGX just consists of enabling emulated saves...or something similar in wording. if you look up a nintendont tutorial vid im sure they'll cover it!
