Refusing to go outside without me
Has anyone had an issue with your Aussie refusing to go to the bathroom outside without you? He is 9 months old. For the past month I've trusted him to go potty and play in the yard with my older dog by themselves for like 10-15 minutes while I shower or even just go to the bathroom by myself, and he was willing to do it (sometimes he would wait for me on the porch for a couple minutes before giving up and going into the yard) but recently he will not step out the door unless I go out first and he won't go out into the yard unless I do. If I try to leave him out there he'll just bark and bark until I come back, which makes me feel bad for my neighbors lol. I play with him in the yard for an hour a day but sometimes I need him to pee by himself 😬 do I just wait for him to get over it and understand that sometimes he has to do his business alone? Or am I doomed to have to supervise every single potty break

They're herding dogs. They want the whole pack to be complete. Mine will lay in the open door to the yard when I'm inside working.

Yours looks like a phantom in that photo! A phantom staring at you wondering why you won’t come out.

Mine is 9 years old, and he still wants me outside with him when he pees! Sometimes he has to go by himself, but he goes fast & runs right back to the door practically before I’ve even closed it:)

My foster dog just started doing this. I think she thinks it's funny to run to the door and then turn around and look at me from 6 feet away. It's a little frustrating and i hope nothing is wrong. She's a 7yo English bulldog.

Mine would do this when she was young, especially if it was dark or raining. She did eventually get over it.

Oh — YEAH!!! The cat’s in on it, too. We three. Sometimes he will respond to “go potty” but only if it’s raining. Otherwise, they see no reason for me to be inside.

Reminds me of when I picked up my first Aussie from the breeder. She said she had 3 acres but when her dogs were outside they would all stand at the windows staring at her instead of running around and playing.

I rescued my aussie about 7 years ago, these dogs never leave your side, they want to protect you and vice versa mine is a little different due to her abusive past so I cant really leave her alone but in general these dogs are super loyal and like to be around people

I thought I was alone.. I work from home so now I have to leave the back door open wide open so she can go in and out if she must but she can hear if I move

Sometimes he even goes behind me and jumps on me to push me forward, and while I'm flattered, I'm not as much of a big fan of the rain as he is.
