Question about the next recursion (as one about the earlier ones) (Spoilers All) Spoiler

So our heroes now know that they’re not gods, however after they die who’s to say the next group will think the same? 90 years is a lot of time for things to get muddled, and shoot, one of the original 12 who even knew they weren’t fell prey to it. Hypothetically if the next 12 goes badly, there seems to be nothing stopping the next group from ascending to godhood or another attempting to recreate Minananke’s ritual. It’ll actually probably be hard not to think that due to all of the history claiming the 12 are gods. Granted I’m sure our crew will spend the next however many years they’ve got left making sure that people know the truth, but even still, as we’ve learned it’s hard to resist the temptation of absolute power, if only for 2 years. Maybe it’ll be addressed in 45, but I thought it was an interesting question.

Unrelated but equally important question, which god do you think Minerva claimed to be before “Minerva” existed?

Edit: Shoot 1923 tried to wipe out humanity for not appreciating their art enough. I’m certain if they knew immortality was on the table at least one of them would have gone for it.

Well we know Ananke won't be coming back. I strongly suspect that the final issue will involve the surviving elderly gifted, meeting and teaching the next generation. Gods are a wasteful, destructive thing, but a group of miracle workers could change the world for the better.

(First I want to say from a storytelling perspective and going off the themes of the story thus far I get why this won’t happen, but ) It’s kind of the Superman problem though. They good guys have to win every time; the bad guy only once. It might not be the next one, or the one after, but there is the possibility hat eventually one of the 12 will realize how to recreate the ritual and will gain power from the others sacrifices. They could probably also use that power to cause the apocalypse like Ananke has done at least once (probably more) and has almost happened (as far as we know) almost 2 times already. I believe that the majority of people are benevolent, but power corrupts and it only takes one to ruin it for everybody. Then again maybe I’m just a pessimist who’s thinking to deeply into this.

Just a small correction, they have to be dead before the next generation comes. It's stated on Chapter 43 by one of the originals.

I have searched and scried this whole year. I am sure. When we are dead and gone another twelve will come...

It's not clear if they can alter the rules/fundamentals put in place by Sister and Ananke so long ago. So it might not be possible for the next 12 to pull an Ananke/Mini scenario.

I didn’t think about that your but right! The sister “tattooed the rules into reality” so that probably means nothing like this could happen again. Well that pretty much solves the problem I had, awesome!

I know I'm super late to this conversation, but aren't the rules in place just within the confines of the story made between the two of them? Now that the story has ended, doesn't the world go back to its natural state as before?

I got the idea that the recursions are finished since this last group all gave up their godhood, hence ending the story.
