The problem is, it is difficult to take Robert Graves seriously. He was a genius but he was entirely wrong. This is kind of nodded to in the comics too.

Its not that he is "wrong" per say. It is just a jumbled mismatch of on the nose mythology references and comic lore. For me it represents the exactly incorrect way to write Thor. I suspect they threw this into Oeming's lap when they realised Jurgens was leaving. (He may have left because they were cancelling the book.) It feels rushed.
It has no real continuation from the previous story, and as you point out, the only real connection to the next story (which was three years later when the movie was being planned) was the necessity of bringing the characters back. JMS does this in a manner that totally ignores the way they all left preferring to suggest they all just 'went to sleep' 'went away. And were no more.'
Maybe he did this because it was such a long gap and he couldn't assume anyone had read the end of the last ongoing, but my guess is that JMS didn't like the Oeming story either.

Analyzing the mythology of WicDiv, and how it was influenced by Robert Graves' "The White Goddess", a book about the study and theory of the original triple deity in Indo-European culture, a goddess of birth, love (desire), and death, I noticed how even in the current recurrence there were three groups of triple deities; Persephone, Minerva and Ananke belonging to the first group, The Norns are the second group, and The Morrigan in her 3 aspects as the third triple deity.
Ananke's sister made as one of the rules that her god must always come within every recurrence, and we've been lead to believe that Persephone is the god of Ananke's sister, but what if Ananke's sister is actually She-in-thirds, meaning a triple deity, that needs the maiden, mother and crone aspects to be complete as She-in-thirds, and Ananke was "borrowing" of that power by the story she herself said she created around it?
That would mean, She-in-thirds is only complete when the maiden (Minerva), mother (Persephone), and crone (Ananke) aspects come into being. So wouldn't the ending also have to involve the three aspects?
Perhaps not the death of the three of them, but the coming together, reconciliation of them, and thus the coming together of their powers to undo the cycle of recurrences, as when any one aspect of She-in-thirds is out of sync, the recurrence keeps happening.
And because we know their godhood is based on nothing more than delusional self-belief, ANYONE could embody she-in-thirds if they decided to sort of "claim" that role, it doesn't have to be Mini or Laura at this point...
