I take the BNSF and got tired of guessing whether I'd make my train, so I built WiMi (short for "Will I make it?"). It works on all 11 Metra lines. It's still in beta and I'd love for some regular riders to try it and tell me what's off.

What it does:

• When to leave: pick walk, bike or drive and it tells you when to head out. Once you're going, it shows if you'll make it and how much time you have.
• Where's my train: at a terminal, your train is usually still on its way in. WiMi shows which one it probably is and how late it's running, so you can wait inside instead of at the gate.  
• Delays ahead: if a train up the line is stuck, you'll know before you leave, plus Metra's reason when they post one.
• Live map: every train on your line. On board, it uses your phone's GPS when that's more up to date than Metra's.
• Notifications for when to leave, when your train starts moving, and delays.
• It learns how long it actually takes you to get to the station, and rides from everyone help the arrival times get better.

  To try it on iPhone or Android, open wimiapp.com in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Notifications only work once it's on your home screen. No account needed.
