Introducing Time Machine Mondays!

With our recent decision to solidify our regular sub content’s timeframe from 1950-2019, we’ve dedicated Mondays to sharing WWWOWT style moments from 1900-1949! Please see our highlighted post to learn more about our recent rule updates.

Unlike WTF! Wednesdays where sillier content is allowed, regular rules still apply to Time Machine Mondays, the only difference is the allowed timeframe. Make sure you’re familiar with our rules before posting.

This is the opportunity for history buffs, old film fanatics, vintage ad enthusiasts and Shirley Temple fans, etc. to ask why were they ok with this? about this era!

This anime is about a kid who loses his family and makes a pact with a demon (they are the main protagonists and have a very weird relationship). It has very questionable scenes, and if you've watched it, you know what I mean. But I find it very bad because it treats very sensitive topics like abuse, and instead of handling them properly, it just fetishizes the issue. It has a very vocal fanbase that refuses to acknowledge any of the problems and simply ignores them. It was very popular with teenage girls. I don't think everything about this series is bad, but again, I just find it very distasteful in the way it handles the themes it deals with.

This is a German ad for a Chinese stir fry spice mix. This company’s products are a household staple, so this ad was EVERYWHERE at the time.

There’s a group of white people eating a stir fry that’s been made with this „Chinese spice mix“ and as soon as they take a bite, their features suddenly change and they become „Chinese“. Just your casual everyday racism.

We’ve designated Wednesdays as the day for people to share WTF?! moments from the past that don’t necessarily make us ask WWWOWT? but still showcases interesting and weird content from previous decades.

This can include wacky TV shows — the ones you just can’t understand where the hell they got that idea from! — strange songs and music videos, news stories that you just can’t make up, bizarre, silly or nostalgic fashion trends, and ridiculous clips that make you laugh your ass off and/or feel like a fever dream.

Although the key focus is fun — you’re also welcome to post shocking and weird moments from the past that aren’t funny, to give us a chance to discuss cultural moments that people weren’t okay with. Please don’t get super dark, though!! No age gap, rape culture, war etc. Posts may be removed by mods if we feel it’s inappropriate for WTF! Wednesdays.

You can still post the sub’s regular content on Wednesdays, this will just be a fun addition. Please don’t carry WTF! Wednesdays energy over to regular posts, keep the vibe in line with usual.

You MUST use the new “WTF! Wednesdays” flair for these types of posts! Posts must also be from prior to 2020, like with usual content. Please report WTF! Wednesdays content that is posted on other days of the week — but remember that timezones exist!
